Personal Philosophy Education

They are different philosophies of education that a teacher is known to use in their job. I

can say that all of them are very important but for me the one that I will apply and have more

connection with would be Social reconstructionism. I can say that I had a few teachers in my life

that used this philosophy to help me in my school and social life. When I was growing up life

was not easy as I thought. My parents were divorce when I was just a kid, that help me mature

young and often caught myself in dangerous situations, and often sought for guidance from a

teacher that saw a potential in me.

The education at schools are the most important for kids that often find that guidance or

motivation to be become someone. Young children often don’t know what the real world is like,

and base there believes with stuff that go on in their home take bad decisions. This is when

teacher with Social Reconstruction can act and help the students find their goals in life. Also, a

political philosophy educator can help students understand what and why stuff happen in our

country, this can open the mind of students to have the knowledge that not everything we have

control of but our decisions in life. A great example is Mr. George S. Counts who was born in

Illinois in 1907-1974 , he was an educator that helped many students by, guiding , and helping

them not give up on education. Social reconstructionism was his form method of philosophy, he

created a quote that said “JUST DO IT’; is now being use everywhere through tv commercials,

clothing brands and drinks for athletes. These proves that in a multicultural world a simple

phrase can be a motivation in action for everybody.

Counts always believed that a teacher centered views can have a potential education and

can reflect in student’s life rather the isolated them. Counts argued that students should have a

social welfare where the can centered on their education rather that what’s going on at home in

difficult times. He wanted teachers and students to make primary goals that can help them build

a better society. Students often struggle to find a path that can take then to make difference in

society.

The curriculum focus was for students to take social action on real life problems, like

poverty, wars, and how they can make an impact. These is another way of Social

reconstructionism action that be follow by many teacher or any other job that is involved with a

society. The assessments could be different, but the purpose should be always to maintain a

growth in the students their education.
