THE POSITION:
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of PA School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS),
has an immediate need to fill an Intermediate Investment Professional in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS), located in Harrisburg, PA, is
seeking candidates for a position in an Investment Office. The position supports the Global Public Equity
team in daily internal management of US Public Equity Index Funds and secondary focus on internally
managed MSCI All County World Excluding USA Index Fund. Primary Functions to be performed by this
employee will contribute to the management of PSERS' U.S. Equity internal Funds.

The position will assist in portfolio management, such as monitoring changes in the benchmarks and
corporate actions within the portfolios, to ensure the internal funds are positioned to successfully replicate the
index. Additionally, the position will research and analyze alpha-generating trade ideas to assist the Portfolio
Managers in making investment decisions. Finally, the position may assist in the selection and monitoring of
active, external, U.S. public equity managers. The Intermediate Investment Professional will be required to
communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the Portfolio Managers, internal management,
PSERS external strategic partners, and brokerage firms.

This position is identified as essential level 1. It supports critical business functions and when there is a
declaration of an office closing, emergency or disaster, the incumbent may be required to participate/assist in
those functions to aid the business continuity process. As such, the incumbent may be required to remain at
or report to work at headquarters or an alternative site and be available and reachable by phone during the
recovery process.

This position reports to the Senior Portfolio Manager of U.S. Equity; however, each member of the senior
management of the Investment Office may also directly interface with the incumbent. Work is performed with
the expectation of an increasing degree of independence and discretion commensurate with prior work
experience.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
 Complete required daily tasks to ensure the internal funds are positioned to successfully replicate the
index. Research and analyze alpha-generating trade ideas to assist the Portfolio Managers in
making investment decisions.
 Assist with the portfolio management of multiple internal equity accounts, with primary focus on
PSERS S&P Indexes (S&P 500, 400, 600, and MLP), in accordance with PSERS Investment
Objectives and Guidelines Addendum E and E1. This position will frequently also support PSERS
internal international public equity portfolios. Duties include but are not limited to assisting with
qualitative and quantitative due diligence efforts, researching and analyzing data, creating equity and
foreign exchange trades for review, reconciling and reviewing daily USD and foreign currency
balances, and the calculation of portfolio performance and attribution.
 Maintain knowledge of PSERS S&P Indexes and serve as a backup to the Senior Portfolio Manager
in all aspects of portfolio management.
 Maintain fundamental knowledge of PSERS Global Public Equity policies and procedures
 Assist with research and execution of the Internal Alpha Program strategies. This may include
transactions related to swaps, futures, mergers, index adds/increase or deletes/decreases, index
rebalancing, and corporate actions. Gather and analyze data to formulate new strategies.
 Reconcile performance of equity accounts for accuracy with PSERS investment consultant.
 Assist Global Public Equity team in updating and maintaining procedures documentation for internal
compliance purposes.
 Attend internal investment meetings and participate in meetings with external investment managers.
Communicate insights from meetings to senior management and maintain notes/analysis within
Tamale database.
 Maintain portfolio data for equity accounts on Bloomberg PORT. Analyze and report key portfolio
metrics derived from Bloomberg PORT to Global Public Equity team.
 Calculate and monitor leverage for applicable internal portfolios.
 Participate in special projects as assigned by senior members of the Equity team. Projects may
require working in groups and with staff from other asset classes.

Requirements:
 Ability to communicate ideas and issues clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
 Ability to independently gather information, conduct timely research, and report quantitative and
qualitative analyses of data
 Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple tasks
 Ability to demonstrate personal initiative through the generation of independent ideas and work
product while contributing as a committed team player
 Proficiency with a computer, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
 Familiarity utilizing a Bloomberg terminal and aptitude to become an expert Bloomberg user
 Knowledge of accepted principles, practices, and strategies in the field of institutional investments

Decision Making:
The position reports to the Senior Portfolio Manager of U.S. Equities. Work is performed with the expectation
of an increasing degree of independence and discretion commensurate with prior work experience. Work
product is reviewed regularly by senior members of the Investment Staff.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's degree and two years or more relevant work experience in the Investment Industry

A Master's degree in Business Administration or Investment-related field

OR

A Bachelor's degree and two years or more as a Junior Investment Professional with PSERS

SALARY INFORMATION:
Annual Salary range for this position is $83,756 to $108,891 and negotiable based on experience.
