THE POSITION:
The Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS) is seeking an Intermediate
Investment Professional in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. If you have a strong interest in financial markets and

This is mid-level professional work which is differentiated from the Junior Investment Professional classification by
an increased level of responsibilities gained through work experience. Work at this level includes a moderate
variety of investment related responsibilities of comparable scope and high complexity, relevant to the collection,
application, analysis, and reporting of investment and risk data, transactions, and holdings. Traditional Markets
tasks involve the research, implementation, and monitoring of investment decisions at a portfolio, asset class, or
fund level, on internally and externally managed portfolios. The incumbent will function independently and be
supervised by a designated superior, exercise moderate judgement in determining the best means to complete
assigned tasks, and will not supervise other staff.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
This position requires the Investment Analyst to support the Global Public Equity team in the daily internal
management of $7.3 billion, with a primary focus on the $3.1 billion internally managed MSCI All Country World
Excluding USA Index Fund and a secondary focus on the $4.2 billion internally managed US public equity index
funds. The Investment Analyst will assist in portfolio management, such as monitoring changes in the
benchmarks and corporate actions within the portfolios, to ensure the internal funds are positioned to successfully
replicate the index. Additionally, the Investment Analyst will research and analyze alpha-generating trade ideas to
assist the Portfolio Managers in making investment decisions. The Investment Analyst will be required to
communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the Portfolio Managers, internal management, PSERS
external strategic partners, and brokerage firms.

The Intermediate Investment Professional completes required daily tasks to ensure the internal funds are
positioned to successfully replicate the index. The incumbent researches and analyzes alpha-generating trade
ideas to assist the Portfolio Managers in making investment decisions in addition to the following:
 Assist with the portfolio management of multiple internal equity accounts, with primary focus on PSERS
All Country World Excluding USA Index Fund ("PSERS ACWI xUS"), in accordance with PSERS
Investment Objectives and Guidelines Addendum E and E1. This position will frequently also support
PSERS internal domestic public equity portfolios. Duties include but are not limited to assisting with
qualitative and quantitative due diligence efforts, researching and analyzing data, creating equity and
foreign exchange trades for review, reconciling and reviewing daily USD and foreign currency balances,
and the calculation of portfolio performance and attribution.
 Maintain knowledge of PSERS ACWI xUS and serve as a backup to the Portfolio Manager in all aspects
of portfolio management
 Assist with research and execution of the Internal Alpha Program strategies. This may include
transactions related to swaps, futures, mergers, index adds/increase or deletes/decreases, index
rebalancing, and corporate actions. Evaluate and recommend tactical positioning by country, sector,
currency, and factors. Gather and analyze data to formulate new strategies.
 Maintain fundamental knowledge of PSERS internal domestic public equity policies and procedures
 Assist with research and execution of the Internal Alpha Program strategies. This may include
transactions related to swaps, futures, mergers, index adds/increase or deletes/decreases, index
rebalancing, and corporate actions. Gather and analyze data to formulate new strategies.
 Reconcile performance of equity accounts for accuracy with PSERS investment consultant
 Assist Global Public Equity team in updating and maintaining procedures documentation for internal
compliance purposes
 Attend internal investment meetings and participate in meetings with external investment managers.
Communicate insights from meetings to senior management and maintain notes/analysis within Tamale
database.
 Maintain portfolio data for equity accounts on Bloomberg PORT. Analyze and report key portfolio metrics
derived from Bloomberg PORT to Global Public Equity team.
 Calculate and monitor leverage for applicable internal portfolios
 Participate in special projects as assigned by senior members of the Equity team. Projects may require
working in groups and with staff from other asset classes.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:
A Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field) and one year as a Junior
Investment Professional with PSERS;
OR
A Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field) and one year or more of
relevant work experience in the investment industry.
EXAMINATION INFORMATION:
The salary for this position is $83,756 to $119,785 and is negotiable based on experience.
