The dyno day will be open to all cars (fwd, rwd & awd) and clubs, so come down and meet some new people in the scene. DbH Social Day, Scitech Speed Science. 6th October This is going to be a fun filled random day where we change tyres under “FormulaOne” conditions, race against eachother and just learn new things, about motorsport and speed. 2pm meet. MEMBER PROFILE Kate Oliver [KAT300] Kate has successfully turned an everyday Astra into a real head turner (in more ways than one!). Im quite partial to the rebadging of Holden to Opel, but then again i own an Opel myself! For those who are not aware, Opel is the engine model; and the Astra, Calibra, Barina & Vectra are all german built, imported vehicles that have been rebadged by Holden. Thats right... they are ‘euro’! A few tasteful body kit additions have made the car more aggressivly styled, but the real impresser is the sound system. Competed in the SPL at the 2007 Autosalon QLD and came 4th with a whopping 142.7db. Interesting Fact - GIRL POWER Leanne Tander, wife of racing great Garth Tander, is creating waves in her own right. Easily labelled Australias’ best female racing driver, the 27 year old continues to push the boundaries of women in motorsport. She is the first woman to win a national Formula Ford race, the first woman to stand on a V8 Supercar podium, and this year she became the first woman to win an Australian Formula 3 race. Her skill and quiet perserverance means that Leanne is now also the first woman to LEAD the F3 Championship. If she wins overall, she will again make history, as the first female to win the prestigious Australian Drivers Championship and the CAMS Gold Star. She started in karts in 1993, and progressed to Formula Ford in 1998. With mixed success there, she moved up into V8 Supercar in 2001 with Garry Rogers Motorsport and 2002 with Fleetcare Racing. The next two seasons saw her race her father’s Mazda RX7 in Improved Production racing, winning the Victorian championship, as well as Australian Production Car Championship in 2004 with Team Toyota Australia. 2005 saw Leanne move to the Australian Formula Three Championship where she became the first female to win a race in 2007. She is married to Toll HSV Dealer Team driver Garth Tander. With Garth leading the V8 Supercar standings, and Leanne leading the Australian F3, it is the first time that spouse’s have simultaneously lead Australian Motor Racing Championships. You go girl!!
