Minutes from March. Beverly Raley moved to have the March minutes approved and Jewnita
Clark seconded. All were in favor and the motion passed.

Circulation/Financial Reports. Statistics for March are good. Attendance is up and our many
patrons are using our new computers.

Old Business.
A. Library Update. Sandra Holmes corrected the date for the fundraising kickoff. It will
be held on April 28th at the Ann Rudd Art Center.
B. Amazon Sales. This month we sold five books totaling $89.73.
C. United Way. Sandra reported we were accepted for $6,035, which is higher than what
we applied for.
D. Spring Break Program. Our Spring Break programs were a huge success. Cheryl
Schwartzkopf promoted our Spring Break activities by giving T.V. interviews to WTVY
and WDHN. We had a great turnout. The Magic Show starring Ted Sobay and Darnell
Johnson was a big hit and enjoyed by children and adults of all ages. Cheryl is
continuing to do a wonderful job as our Children’s Librarian. We will continue to have
Therapy Dogs, Pokémon, Lego Club and Popcorn and a Movie.
E. LSTA Grant Computers. Our new computers are up and running, being enjoyed by our
many patrons. Sandra has submitted a request for reimbursement since we paid for them
with our local funds.
F. Fine Free Month. April is fine-free month in celebration of National Library Week and
National Volunteer Week. Anyone with overdue material can simply return the material
to us and we will erase their fines.

New Business.
A. Wiregrass Foundation Grant. The foundation will meet on April 15th. We should
know something after the first of the week.
B. Bonnie Crawford. Bonnie came up with the proposal to spearhead fundraising to help
build our new library. She states we need our community to buy into what we’re
building. It needs to be a community vision. She has come up with the idea that
businesses can have their employees donate monthly to the building fund if they choose
to do so. We will have quarterly fundraisers and sponsor activities during the summer for
our children. She suggested we host a reading encouragement. This involves the
children reading books and summarizing what their book was about. We will also have
activities for our adult patrons. We need to have an ongoing relationship with our
community. Our numbers are already up, but we should strive to get them even higher.
Our Library is the hub of the community, as well as cultural experience. It serves as a
beacon which is where our mission statement “Beacon of Hope and Learning” originated.
Until you’ve dreamed, you haven’t had a life. Another good thing, when we go to sell
our current building more than likely the hospital will want to buy the building due to its
location. We will mail invitations by next week for our fundraising kickoff event. It will
be held April 28th at the Ann Rudd Art Center from 6 to 9 p.m. and everyone is invited.
We developed a trifold of services we provide with a donation form for attendees to

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Beverly and seconded by Jewnita. All were in
favor and the motion passed.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m., and the next meeting will be held on May 9th at 9 a.m.
