Purpose of the Course Promote faculty management of larger online class sizes through the provision of
tips and strategies to manage an increased workload
Audience Description The target audience for this project would be online facilitators who are assigned to
facilitate larger classes at the University of E-Learning. Staff members within
Academic Affairs would be a secondary audience as they would be able to
disseminate word of the training for the faculty population who are scheduled to
teach these sections.
Major Course Faculty will examine existing course curriculum for opportunities for
Objectives (Terminal) scalability given the larger assigned classroom.
Faculty will identify facilitation strategies that are effective in high volume
online classrooms.
RLO Enabling Identify university policies and procedures related to assignment adaptability.
Objective

Learning Assessment Learners will participate in a variety of assessments that will help to achieve the
for Course training goals. By using authentic assessments (e.g., graded discussions, quizzes,
and applied exercises), participants will engage in practical exercises that faculty
must complete to show a basic proficiency on key learning points. This will give
the faculty the opportunity to practice what they are learning and create strategies,
tools and resources that will be immediately applicable in their future classrooms.
Learning Assessment To measure the selected RLO, Learners will complete a multiple choice quiz that
for RLO tests their knowledge on the information learned in the corresponding presentation.
Learners will receive feedback upon the completion of the quiz for each response
and can take the quiz as many times as needed to achieve 100%. Learners will
receive a point for completion of the quiz with a final score of 100%.
Instructional Delivery The training would be delivered solely through an online asynchronous modality
method for Course that would combine the use of self-paced tutorials, facilitated discussions and
(overall) practical simulations and exercises. This delivery method would be the ideal fit as
the module itself is geared toward online faculty and the audience is most familiar
with receiving professional development in that format.
Instructional Strategy The specific instructional strategy that will be used for this RLO is a web-based
for RLO tutorial. This will allow for easy access and updates to the materials when
necessary. The tutorial will be designed to be dynamic to the learner, making use of
interactive and static graphics as possibly animations and video that make the
material more engaging.

Development Tools Articulate Storyline 360 will be used to complete this project. The storyboard
for RLO template used for the project is one that is commonly used at my place of work.
Ownership Karen Hunter will develop the initial course and will maintain the course. The
course is being developed for and will be delivered by the University of E-
Learning.
Development Time of The overall projected development time for the entire course is 4-6 weeks. For the
entire course and RLO, the specific projected time allotment is 50-75 hours of estimated development
RLO time dedicated to creating the web-based tutorial to include the following
components:
Support requirements The instructional designer will act as the SME, editor and developer of all pieces of
for RLO and course the learning modules.
