Summer Activities
Over the summer we are encouraging students to continue
their learning of the Georgia Standards of Excellence.
While some students may want to complete this as quickly as
possible, it is designed to be completed over the course of the
summer. Ideally, students will follow the schedule indicated,
completing one subject per day.
In addition to the content specific tasks, students are also being
asked to select a book based on personal interest for summer
reading. A list of suggestions for each grade level is provided,
however other selections may be chosen based on input from
teachers, family, and peers.Lindley Middle School Rising 7° Grade Summer Break Packet

Friday Weekly Writing TasksDear Lindley Middle School Student,
Based on your personal interests and preferences, Lindley Middle School
encourages the LMS student to select books, articles, and other texts to read
independently. Summer Reading not only reinforces the leamiing you've done in class,
but it also gives you a chance to expand your knowledge about topics that
fascinate you. Your teachers have complied great suggestions to read over the
summer. The titles listed complement the reading you will do in your classes next year.
These are suggestions to get you started, but you may also choose other readings with
input from your teacher, family, and peers. 7" and 8 grade suggested reading titles are
located on the back.
While you work your way through each ELA unit next school year, your teacher
will give you time to read independently. You should annotate (record general thoughts
or reactions to your independent reading) directly in your book or in a handy notebook
specifically for your readings. Practice annotating as you read now, here is an example
of text annotations:

Theme?
The summer ELA activities go hand-in-hand with your summer reading. The
tasks will count as your first 100 for the coming school year. These tasks will
prompt you to think about your independent reading by responding to questions and
making connections between texts and themes. You will even get a chance to
recommend your book to others!
We hope you enjoy exploring the texts, topics, and themes over the summer, and
that you feel inspired to deepen your reading, writing, speaking, and analytic skills
