Thermal Systems
The discipline of Thermal Systems Engineering (TSE) - combustion, heat transfer, chemistry and physics - has stood at the nexus of energy management since
the industrial revolution. TSE remains central to current issues, including global climate change, solar energy, cooling of high-density CPUs, geoengineering, or
multiphase combustion. At Cornell, TSE faculty are engaged in diverse research, including combustion of liquid and gaseous fuels and biomass, non-linear
control of heating and ventilation, geophysical heat and mass transfer, turbulent transport, thermal systems integration, and air quality.
