Resolution of the San Bernardino County Republican Central Committee In support of Arizona Senate Bill 1070

Whereas, all members of the San Bernardino County Republican Central Committee have taken the oath of office prescribed in the California Constitution, Article 20, Section 3, and have sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California; and Whereas, The Constitution of the United States, Article 1, Section 8, authorizes the United States to organize a Militia to protect against invasions; and Whereas, The Constitution of the United States, Article 4, Section 4, requires the United States to protect every state from invasion; and Whereas, The Constitution of the United States, Article 1, Section 10, provides authority for states to protect themselves in the event of invasion; and Whereas, The Republican Party platform affirms Border Security is essential to national security and in an age of terrorism, drug cartels, and criminal gangs, allowing millions of unidentified persons to enter and remain in this country posing grave risks to the sovereignty of the United States and the security of its people; and Whereas, The Republican Party platform further requires cooperation among federal, state and local law enforcement and real consequences, including the denial of federal funds, for selfdescribed sanctuary cities, which stand in open defiance of the federal and state statutes that expressly prohibit such sanctuary policies, which endanger the lives of U.S. citizens; and Whereas, the Federal Government has wrongfully neglected its role to guard and protect our borders, and thus all Americans, from an unprecedented invasion of illegal aliens; and Whereas, the State of Arizona, after repeated attempts and pleas for federal enforcement of their border with Mexico and enduring illegal crossings of the national border, has passed Arizona Senate Bill 1070 which was signed by Governor Jan Brewer on April 23, 2010; and Whereas, this Arizona law enables its Law Enforcement officers to enforce federal immigration law using federal standards protecting the rights of all citizens, and are required to do so without violating civil rights and without resorting to racial profiling; and Whereas, the Arizona law does not require new documentation such as a national ID card, but uses existing identification and documentation to establish a presumption of legal status; Therefore be it Resolved, that the San Bernardino County Republican Central Committee supports the people of Arizona and applauds the State of Arizona, Arizona Senate Bill 1070 and its Governor Jan Brewer in their continuing efforts to protect and defend it citizens, our country, and the sovereignty of both the State of Arizona and the United States of America.
