Senior Bioinformatics Software Engineer
Position KeyGene is looking for a Senior Bioinformatics Software Engineer to join its Applied Systems Biology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for devising, designing, and implementing software solutions in terms of components and pipelines in support of KeyGene’s innovative research activities in applied systems biology, lead discovery, genomic assembly and annotation, high throughput genotyping and comparative genomics. This work will involve working with diverse omics data, piecing together existing and new software, rapidly prototyping new ideas and adjusting to the changing parameters that new problems present to the team. The successful candidate will be able to coach others, have a flexible attitude, pragmatic spirit and will work closely and effectively with an international team of scientists, tool developers, biostatisticians to deliver practical solutions for the research team and their customers. The KeyGene team is continually exposed to new technologies and techniques and is driven to be current with new developments in the field of Bioinformatics. The Senior Bioinformatics Software Engineer executes tool- engineering assignments while meeting specific product deadlines. Essential qualifications of the position include: - 5-10 years applicable work experience, MSc. in Computer Sciences, preferred - Software engineering experience with C, C++, R, matlab, SAS, splus, Java and/or Perl with experience and knowledge of data processing and analysis challenges in Biology, preferred. - Experience working with next generation sequencing tools, genetic and/or genomics data is a plus - Excellent communication skills to interact with our (US) costumers
