The functionalism is not more than a theoretical paradigm where it finds to the society
like a complex system that contains parts that fit one with the other, this way a balance
and social stability takes place. For functionalism, social structures can be family,
government or education for example, and this contributes to the functioning of society.

While on the other hand we have the "theory of conflict" which is an analysis from the
point of view of inequality, conflict and social change. For this theory, social structures
perpetuate the "unequal" distribution of the economic and political resources of society.
A supporter of this important theory is Karl Marx who presented a great commitment to
abolish social inequality.

Finally, we have the theory of action, which is a continuous process of interaction in

society in which people, by giving meaning to what surrounds them, generate social
reality. In short, they try to understand the social context from the perspective of the
individuals who participate in it.

In this opportunity the social institution that I choose is the family, and a problem that I
have identified in it related to society is the violence that currently exists. The family to
be the first agent of socialization that influences the creation of values, culture, etc.
This influences the behavior and development of this. The family as a social structure
contributes to social stability and is part of the complex group of parties that fit together.
The violence that threatens this institution also attends to social stability from the point.
That is why this problem that is currently affecting us is important to banish it, since the
future of societies, in my opinion, is in danger.

About the functionalist theory of sociology, the family is a social structure, often
underestimates the importance of this structure, where violence (problem that I am
describing) looms. According to an article of the February 3, 2015 issue of The New
York Times, many times people who are reported for various violent crimes, begin their
acts at home with attacks on their girlfriends or wives, but unfortunately not given the
due attention and charges of domestic violence do not proceed further.

Considering the theory of conflict, while highlighting the inequalities that start from a

social structure, we cannot exclude the idea that the family is a nucleus from which
many of the important values practiced in society are born and are fostered. But it
should also be noted that the problem in mention, that is, violence, part of this social
structure. According to the February 3, 2015, article in The New York Times, it states
that a felony conviction for domestic violence is the best predictor of future violent
crimes among people.

According to the paradigm of action, what is fundamental is the interaction of people,

how people live is how they create and change their world, which is why a correct and
harmonious family relationship is important. Which seeks to eliminate all types of
violence that threatens this significant cause.

In the following essay, a current relevant topic will be addressed, related to the
introductory course to sociology, where the following points will be considered:
Functionalism, conflict theory and the action paradigm. Which indicates that the family
as a social structure and being immersed in a violent society is broken and therefore
there will be negative repercussions, interpersonal, intrapersonal, labor, etc.

As a conclusion, a fundamental part of the conduct, values, personal development,

culture, etc., part of the house, therefore this will influence the relationships of people in
society.
