Shane P. Barkley
Shane is the President of Dad the Family Shepherd (DFS) and author of Dad
Cents. Before joining DFS, Shane gained 10 years experience in the Finan-
cial industry as a financial consultant and co-owner of a Registered Invest-
ment Advisory firm.
Dad the Family Shepherd was founded in 1984 by former Dallas Cowboy
linebacker, Dave Simmons. DFS has held conferences in 11 countries and
has ministered to over 100,000 men. Shane assumed a leadership role in
June of 2007. He founded the Savvy Dads Conferences with featured speak-
er, Ken Canfield Ph.D. and authored his book Dad Cents (Oct. 2009).
Shane is presenting workshops for Iron Sharpens Iron men’s conferences,
Savvy Dads conferences and Dad Cents one day seminars at churches
around the country.
He attended Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, where he played baseball,
and John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Shane has a Bach-
elor of Science in Business Administration and minor in History from John
Brown University.
Shane has been married to his beautiful bride, Valerie for 17 years. They
have three daughters and reside in Topeka, Kansas.
Dear Church Leaders,
Thank you for your interest in hosting a Dad Cents seminar. The need for
Godly men and fathers has never been greater. We at Dad Cents are thank-
ful for your vision and passion to equip and train fathers as well as their
wives desiring to learn more about fathering and the positive effect fathering
has had on past, current and future generations.
The culture has successfully diminished the role of the father and we con-
tinue to see the ramifications. A quick examination our economy and society
would reveal our lack of generational teaching and show our deficit in knowl-
edge regarding money. Our current economy has placed an even brighter
spotlight on the need for biblical money management.
Working through the local church is the best strategy to affect the culture
and bring about change. We believe the local church holds the promise to
bring the change mentioned in Malachi 4. We look forward to partnering and
serving you.

Hosting a Dad Cents Seminar:

Check-in
To book a live seminar you need:
1. A venue that can hold 100+ adults 8:30 am - 9:20 am
2. Support of the senior pastor and staff Session 1 - Foundation
3. Sound and video projection
9:30 am - 10:20 am
4. Passion to get the word out to your community
5. A point person for contact and to direct your in-house promotions Session 2 - D-A-D-S approach

Because of Shane’s experience with Ken Canfield and Savvy Dads conferences, he knows one 10:30 am - 11:20 am
of the main concerns is always “how much will it cost the church?” With that in mind, we have Session 3 - Personal knowledge, modeling
created several options that allows the church to have little to no expense. We ask that 100%

of the travel expenses are covered with a minimum of 25 pre-paid attendees. With 80 to 100
pre-paid attendees we split the travel expenses and with a minimum of 100 pre-paid attend- Lunch

The cost of the conference is $40 per family. Each family will receive one copy of the seminar
