A study that was conducted which showed that user who are adapted to their wheelchairs have no

tolerance for the failures of new features that means fully autonomous system plays a very important role
that will be fully accepted. It has been seen that people are open to use robots that fully assist them in
preforming a task. these robots help the people to have an independent mobility.

In current power wheel chair people still experience many more difficulties with daily maneuvering task
and would benefit from automated navigation system. therefore, in future smart wheelchair user will
have the ability to select from various autonomous or semi autonomous modes using the input method
what the user is comfortable with. This autonomous navigation will help user to navigate along a
programed route with very less effort. This helps in reduce anxiety and builds and individual profile. These
profiles will have the ability to track variables such as input method, wheeling speed, turning speed and
amount of variable feed back. Future research plans are being focused on devilment of novel navigation
algorithms to allow the smart wheel chairs to work autonomously in complex environments. They require
online calibration and sensor fusion of various multiple sensor sources including laser scanners, camera,
IMU, encoder and GPS, etc. Fortunately, the navigation algorithms developed for SWs could inherit the
advanced performances of previous works on autonomous navigation for the robots.

The Latest method that has been proposed is by controlling the wheelchair by the thought process. In this
technology the person can control the motion of the same by just thinking how he want to carry out the
process. This vehicle can be modeled in such a way that it can be easily turned into a semi sleeper mode
to make the user feel more comfortable and thereby reducing the continuous one mode sitting problem.
The step climbing wheelchair is already in the process where as the inter - communication between the
devices-which is going to be implemented on road vehicles. This communication feature with the
wheelchairs will help the deaf and dumb to communicate with each other also.
