(a) The resource and activity of the Pl. Cmd. was note-
worthy. rd th a much smaller force landing on the
island later, he kept the initiative throuGhout and
chose the place of cont,at on each occasion. ' For
every situation he had a simple determined plan and
on two occasions he used most effective ruses. As
a result on the first occasion tvlO pIs. ',;. G. s were
occupied capturinG four Seaf0rths, while 7 pl. S.H.C.
enzaced the '" .G. H.Q. On the second occasion,he
moved his pl. from under the eyes of the .... G. scouts to
a np-w posn. not discQvered for 2 hrs.
(u) - e .. :'eldc..' _t, .or e and 3pirit of the Sea:forths
as ~c r" 'ble. _ 0'" coved constantly-about the

defensive POSI1. it could not be scen with the naked
eye and discipline in such position and on the r.larch
was extl'eT!lely hlell. The men 11ad marched on to their
posn. after early breakfast, their noon meal did not
arrive until 1)'30 hrs but we hoare! no complaints and
the interest of the nen lntheir task was such that
they bolted the meal at 1530 hrs. in 10 mins. in
order to crawl 400 yds in sand to avoid the enemy.
(c) Lac~ indtvidual Seaforth appeared to be a trained
scout and prepared, to renain perfectly still at nny
moment anel for any time. The only way in which their
posn. or mOVet'lent was: i ven av:ay was by sorne slicht
talking and one or two bad coughs.
(d)7 PI enL;aGed the enemy four tines and on each occasion
the 1'- .G. · rmpire ruled that the Seai'orths had been
beaten. Despite their blows to Mora.le with which the
