How is Urine made?

The kidney is involved in maintaining the concentration of various minerals and

substances constant, volume of water constant, removes waste and keeps acid and
base concentrations of the blood at a constant level.

Step 1: Filtration
Blood enters the nephron
through the renal artery. Each
nephron has a glomerulus which
are bundles of capillaries. As the
blood enters the blood pressure
rises and pushes water and
solutes through a membrane
and out of the glomerulus
starting the urination process
while keeping cells and protein
in the bloodstream.

Step 2: Reabsorption
Once the filtrate leaves the
glomerulus it enters the renal tubule.
This tubule filters the essential
substance and some water through the
tubule wall and back into the
Step 3: Secretion
capillaries and back into the body The remaining hydrogen ions
through the Renal vein. and the waste ions are
secreted out of the nephron
into the collecting duct
