Definition of a pickup on an Electric Guitar

Guitar is a string instrument which is played by plucking the string. The main part of a
guitar are the body, the fretboard, the headstock, and the string. Their string are made of steel or
nylon. There are two kind of guitar, which are an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar. An
electric guitar don’t need to have a hollow body because it use an electricity and amplifiers to
control the loudness. Nah, there is something called pickup

Pickup is a transducer device that capture mechanical vibration from string instrument
like a electric guitar or electric bass guitar and convert them to an electric signal to the amplifier
and making sound. The position of pickup is on the middle of the body guitar. A pickup have
magnetic polepieces. These polepieces centers should perfectly align with the string or the sound
is suboptimal as the pickup would capture only a part of the string’s vibrational energy. Pickup
can be either active pickup and a passive pickup

An active pickup require an electrical energy to operate an electronic amp, active filters,
and other sound shaping features. They can sometimes give much higher possible output. They
also are less affected in tone by varying lengths of the electric cable connecting the guitar to the
amplifier. Otherwise to a passive pickup, it still need an electrical energy to operate but not too
much. Every kind of this had it main advantages and disadvantages

The main advantages of active pickup system is the ability to use active, multi-band
equalization with the onboard preamp and the typically have a wider dynamic range than passive
pickup, as well as higher overall output. This give them the capability of producing sounds with
the higher fidelity and a characteristic clarity. The disadvantages of active pickup system is the
need for an external power source such as a battery or phantom power to increasing their
complexity of use. Active system are generally more expensive than a standard passive system.
Active electronics are more common with bass electric guitar than regular electric guitar.

Overall, we all are know how important an electric guitar with a good pickup which is
can give us a good sound. From it we can easily enjoy to play guitar because it have a good
sound and who heard the sound will enjoy too.
