MAJOR COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENTS

Cena Del Barrio Dec. 2017

Volunteer
We packed over 3000 packages of food for families in need within different neighborhoods in Dallas. We learned
teamwork and the benefits of giving back to their community.
North texas Alliance Aug 2015
Attendee
We attended the North Texas Alliance for Reducing Pregnancy in Teens student film contest at the Angelika
Theater in Dallas to watch films made by students about why teens choose to have sex. We gained valuable
insight into the reality of high teen pregnancy rates in Dallas. We learned about entering the contest and discussed
submitting films for the following year. We discussed generalizations about teen pregnancy and how to prevent
coming into these situations. We were empowered to approach the subject more openly with our families and the
knowledge on the topic gave us wisdom to make better decisions in the future.
March for our lives March 2017
Participant
We participated in the Dallas March for our lives in City Hall. We were able to experience the activist culture by
marching. We heard speeches after the march. This was a student organized march and a clear example of the
power of our voices and opinions
