Darryl Chalmers
New Zealand

Darryl is a professional mariner and has been at sea for most of his working life.
Since leaving New Zealand in his late teens, Darryl has travelled extensively
and has a wealth of experience in many locations and on different vessel
types. Darryl has a special fondness for the Asia and Pacific regions having
lived in Northern Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong. For the past 6 years
he has been based in Thailand where he lives with his wife and young son.
Together with the crew, Darryl welcomes you aboard for a safe and enjoyable

Chris Russell

Chris comes from Yorkshire on the East Coast of the UK. His family has a
long standing connection to the sea, as his grandfather was a North Sea
fisherman. Over the years Chris has been involved with many small yachts,
but his first true blue water cruising yacht was an 11m/33ft Bermudan sloop,
which he sailed single handed from the UK to NZ in 1995. Chris has been
involved with the super yachts since 1996 working on a variety of yachts over
the past 20 years. Chris is married to a New Zealander and has a 12 year old
daughter. He enjoys nature and gets involved in activities with the crew.

David Butterworth
Chief Officer

Dave, known as Red, was born in Jarrow, UK. After a few office-based jobs,
he realised his desire to travel and could no longer be bound to a desk. He
began his yachting career ten years ago and currently holds his officer of
watch (OOW) ticket. Red has travelled to many parts of the World, and counts
Alaska, China and Indonesia as his favourite countries visited. Red is a delight
to have on board, always willing to be of help where he can. He loves all
sports, in particular golf and motor racing.

Matthew Baldizzone
Chief Officer

Matt is from Cairns, Australia where his passion for the outdoors and extreme
sports began. After playing Soccer all of his younger years, he moved to Torino,
Italy, at age of 15 to chase a dream of becoming professional. This was his first
taste of European lifestyle which fuelled the fire to return to Europe in search of
adventure. A close friend introduced him to the Super Yacht industry and he
has now progressed up to Chief Officer. His goal to see the world goes hand
in hand with his hobbies of travel and adrenaline-fuelled sports, especially

Mark Jeffery
2nd Officer

Mark grew up sailing on the South coast of England. Starting out on smaller
sailing yachts and later moving over to the motor yacht world. The yachting
industry has allowed him to see some fantastic things and now he looks
forward to exploring more of the world. Mark is a knowledgeable and
dedicated leader on board, we are glad to have him as part of the crew.
Mark loves all water-sports and especially enjoys kite surfing. Messing around
on or in the water is his favourite occupation!

Chris Pyle
2nd Officer

Chris grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he studied Economics at
University. After completing his tertiary education, he then travelled to
different parts of the world playing rugby, this is where Chris stumbled upon
the yachting industry. He has been lucky enough to travel around the world
during his short yachting career to such places as the French Polynesia and
South East Asia. Chris is a keen sportsman, his favourite activities include
rugby, water sports of all kinds, diving and golf.

Marta Stwora

Marta’s home country is Poland. While living there she completed a Master’s
Degree in Education before moving to the United States where she continued
her studies and gained a Post Graduate in Psychology. With her love for travel
and curious nature Marta decided to make the move to join the yachting
industry. Since then she has worked on-board several yachts and never looked
back. Forensic psychology still remains a strong interest for her, as does reading
and watching films. Marta’s genuine and lively personality will ensure that you
receive highly efficient and helpful service.

Lauren Winter
South Africa

Born and raised on the East coast shores of South Africa, Lauren grew up
alongside the water and the great outdoors. After completing her Honours
Degree in Exercise Science, she embarked on one of her passions and
travelled around the World while expanding her knowledge and experience
in the yachting industry. Lauren is an active member of the crew and loves
seeking out adventures whether it is water sports or something more extreme
such as white water rafting or sky diving. Her attention to detail, great work
ethic and extrovert personality make her an asset to our team.
Malcolm Bowers
Interior Manager

Malcolm hails from St Helena, off the coast of Africa. He grew up and was educated
there. From the age of 16 he took an interest in the hospitality sector and trained
as a chef. Malcolm then moved to the UK to further his education and undertook
a Hospitality and Catering Management course. Following his studies he worked
in Colorado the USA, in the 5 star Broadmoor Hotel and Connecticut. From there
Malcolm embarked on his first foray into the yachting industry and joined the Royal
Mail Ship St Helena for 8 years in the role of Assistant Hotel Services Officer. A year-
long break from working aboard the RMS St Helena provided Malcolm with his
first opportunity to experience the superyacht industry. His hobbies and interests
are diverse to say the least, he is completing a professional photography diploma
course – and has also been known to dabble in FM Radio Presenting!

Nandie Groenewald
Head of Service
South Africa
Nandie grew up in South Africa, Cape Town near the coast. This is where her
love of the ocean started, whether it was going on fishing trips with her parents,
spending the day at the beach or swimming proffesionally for her local swimming
club. She has always had a love for travelling and this is what took her to the
Chicago, USA where she worked as an AuPair for 2 years taking care of four
children whilst studying photography. Nandie has been in yachting since 2012
and has worked her way up to her position in Service. Yachting has combined
everything she loves- travelling, meeting new people, the ocean, great diving
opportunities and sustaining her values in her personal life and using this all toward
her career.

Olivia Mack
Head of House
South Africa

Olivia grew up in a big family in the small, beautiful town of Howick, South Africa
- far from the sea!
Introduced to sailing at an early age led to her completing an offshore skipper
course in 2013. Growing up with enough siblings to sink a boat means she is able
to get along with others and is loyal, calm, fun and responsible. Qualified as a
Graphic Designer and Florist, Olivia finds creative inspiration in everyday things.
Always travelling with her camera, playing the piano and (being South African)
enjoying the outdoors of course!
Emma King

Emma is from Sydney, Australia. She is your on board beauty therapist, masseuse
stewardess. She completed her beauty diploma in 2012 and has since worked
on cruise liners as well as land based Spa’s. With her passion for skin science
and love of skincare, Emma will be sure to educate as well as pamper you!
When Emma is not pampering people, she thoroughly enjoys exploring the
world, listening to live music, have fun in the sun and she enjoys photography.

Zetske Colyn
South Africa

Zetske (otherwise known as Zee) is an energetic, fun-loving and adventurous
young lady from the Karoo in South Africa. She grew up in a small village called
Graaff-Reinet. She later changed her view of the open landscapes and stars
for the city lights and hustle and bustle and moved to Cape Town. Zee studied
hairdressing in Cape Town and then decided to work on a Royal Caribbean
cruise liner for a year. In her free time she likes to go hiking, exercising and any
adventurous activity- especially if it gets her adrenaline going!

Lytasha Robin

Lytasha is an Australian who has been in the yachting industry for just over
2 years. Her interests revolve around socialising, travelling, adventuring,
photography, nutrition, and fitness. Recently she completed her Yoga Teacher
training for a month in Bali then went on to backpack Laos and Vietnam
before joining Aquila.

Amber Lordan
South Africa

Amber has spent six years living in Capetown, which she loves because
it is the foodie capital and has great service. She has lived and worked
in Florida and started her yachting career two years ago. Amber is a
hospitality management graduate, which means she is passionate about
what she does on board.

Emily Stanley

Emily is from a small coastal town south of Melbourne, Australia. However
for the past 5 years she has been loving the beautiful sun and lifestyle in
western Australia. After completing her diploma of Nursing in 2012 she
accepted a graduate program in Geraldton, Western Australia. Emily is
known for her positive attitude towards everything and her fun deminar.
Her number one passion is travelling- she has been to 30 countries so
far. Her second passion is helping people, wether it be friends, family or
strangers. With her adventurous soul, Emily packed her bags early this
year and has now joined Aquila for her first yachting season.

Emma Gendall
South Africa

Emma grew up on the sunny coastline of Port Elizabeth in South Africa.
Having a natural love for the ocean, outdoors and meeting people
Emma decided to go to Palma de Mallorca to work on superyachts, five
years ago. Loving what she does and being able to make people happy
and smile is something she looks forward to. Emma’s interests lie in floristry
as well as keeping fit by running.

Songpoom Hanlue
Laundry Steward

Songpoom is otherwise known as ‘Tak’ to all his colleagues. His nickname comes
from the word ‘tak’ in Polish which means ‘yes’. He says he is always ready to
say yes to work and new challenges...making him the happy, ‘yes man’ aboard!
He comes from the lovely town of Rayong, Thailand. He started in the yachting
industry back in 2007, where he worked as laundry steward for over 9 years on
M/Y St. Nicholas! He is a dedicated, hard worker who always has a friendly smile
on his face. He joined the Aquila crew at the beginning of the year and is keen
to make the laundry his own. In free time he enjoys keeping active with running
and football.

Kevin Feinberg
Head Chef
South Africa

After completing chef school in South Africa, Kevin was placed on an internship in
Geneva, Switzerland. From here he moved back to South Africa and gained further
experience working in some of the finest restaurants Southern Sun Resorts have to
offer. Kevin then embarked on a leisurely sailing trip to the Caribbean where he
discovered the yachting industry. Since then, Kevin has enjoyed a successful 10
years ensuring guests are presented with the very best cuisine. Kevin’s enthusiastic
and fun character is a bonus to the crew of Aquila. Outside of the galley Kevin
enjoys golf, tennis and surfing.

Didier Laminette
Head Chef

Didier has spent nearly 2 decades in the yachting industry and believes Asia is
amongst his favourite places he has visited. As well as his expertise at sea he has also
established himself as a renowned chef ashore, training and working for Michelin
star restaurants throughout the world. Didier has cooked for the French National
Army and worked for the ‘Venice Simplon Orient Express’ train. He has even created
various digital recipe books. Didier is a great character with a sense of humour! He is
a keen photographer and likes to capture his culinary delights. Didier is married and
has recently become a father!

Bijay Karki
Second Chef
Jay is originally from Nepal but now resides in the UK where he has spent the
last 6 years. He lives in Scotland with his wife and one-year-old daughter.
From a young age Jay has had a passion for cooking and loves his role as a
chef. Prior to yachting Jay gained his culinary knowledge working in various
restaurants. He also enjoys charity work, helping young under privileged
children. Jay is interested in photography and likes to keep active by taking
part in team sports and being in the great outdoors.

Sasha Leong
Second Chef

Sasha is from Brighton in the UK and has spent seven years in the yachting industry.
Sasha trained at Gordon Ramsay’s cooking school before joining yachting. In
the last seven years she has travelled South-East Asia whilst studying the cuisine
as she went. In her spare time she enjoys keeping active, experiencing different
cultures, socialising and has a love for animals.

Timothy Nattrass-Taylor
Lead Deckhand
New Zealand

Tim is originally from Auckland New Zealand, he is the lead deck hand on board
Aquila, and is proactive about helping the other deckhands to further their skills
and knowledge on deck. Growing up around water and playing almost every
water sport possible, naturally lead him into this chosen field of work. He has
extensively cruised the Mediterranean, Caribbean and South Pacific islands,
and is always looking forward to the next exciting adventure. He currently
holds his Yacht master and is continuing to work towards his OOW. Tim enjoys
playing golf in his spare time.

Sven Hart
Deckhand/Personal Trainer

Sven comes from Namibia and later on moved to South Africa to study business
management and personal training. This was when he saw what life had to offer
- a big change from the vast desert plains of his hometown. Sven was eager
to explore the unknown, meet new people and experience different cultures.
Sven is a very friendly, outgoing individual. He loves anything outdoorsy-
including hiking, beach games and water-sports. Sven can be found either
lifting weights at the gym or on the dance floor, showing off his well practised
dances moves! He is our very own qualified personal trainer on board. If you
have any requests or questions, he would be only too happy to help.

Tom Banfield

Tom is from Poole in the United Kingdom. He served six years in the Royal
Marines Commando- working all over the world in areas from Afghanistan to
California. Sadly Tom injured his knee on an operational tour and was medically
discharged. Prior to joining Aquila, he worked as a Butler in the Buff, working
weekends at Hen do’s and parties- entertaining and serving drinks. Tom is
new to the yachting industry but holds various scuba diving, medic and close
protection qualifications. In his free time Tom enjoys gym training, scuba diving,
sailing and anything active or outdoors.

Jonathan Ambrose
Jonathan was born on the south coast of England in a beautiful city
called Chichester. He grew up on the beach and went sailing on
weekends with his family, which gave him his great love for the outdoors.
After finishing college, Jonathan went off to join the Royal Marines
Commandos where he spent four years visiting numerous countries from
Dubai to the Seychelles. He started yachting a couple of years ago and
has continued to travel to new places! Jonathan loves to spend his free
time exercising, mountain climbing, skiing, surfing and going to beach
clubs. He has made up his mind to climb the seven summits, starting with
Denali in North America!

Charlie Mogg

Charlie was born in Australia but grew up in England, in a place called
Rugby (the town where the sport was conceived)! He studied English
and then decided to go into the ‘real world’ - doing brand marketing
and sales in and around London. All day meetings weren’t for him so he
decided to leap into the yachting world in 2013. In no time he was off to
Asia for a year and a half on his first yacht job. He now joins us on Aquila
for his next adventure- fun times abound!

Paul Gray

Paul is from Plymouth, UK. Another Marine! He joined the Royal Marines
Commando at the age of 17 and served on multiple operations around
the world, from Afghanistan to anti-piracy in Somalia and humanitarian aid
in Sierra Leone. Growing up by the sea, Paul has always loved the water,
which led him to specialise in Landing Craft whilst in the Royal Marines
and gained many RYA qualifications. Paul was medically discharged in
September 2016. In his spare time, Paul enjoys mountain biking, skiing as
well as general fitness training.

Tim Holman
Chief Engineer

Tim grew up in the South West of England where from an early age he followed
his developed his three great passions sailing fishing and all things technical.
After finishing his apprenticeship, he took up yachting which allowing him to
follow his passions full time. Tim joined Aquila in June and brings with him a
wealth of experience having completed more than thirty ocean crossings,
circumnavigated the globe and attempted to catch fish in every ocean.
In his spare time likes to enjoy the outdoor life with his family in Mexico and

Carl Krehl
Chief Engineer
New Zealand

Carl was born, raised and continues to live in Whangaparaoa just outside of
Auckland, New Zealand. He qualified as an engineer in 1989 and worked in the
automotive and special effects industry for 10 years. Carl then embarked on
his career in yachting. Due to Carl’s hard working, quick learning and helpful
nature, he was quickly promoted to Chief Engineer. Carl holds a Y1, the highest
engineering qualification in yachting. Because Carl is so extensively experienced,
he is able to rectify nearly any problem on board and ensures safety is at the
highest standard.

Juan Riauba
2nd Engineer England

Juan was born in the beautiful coastal city of Montevideo, Uruguay. Early
in life he developed a great interest in Science and engineering. He began
his career working on cruise and cargo ships but converted to yachts 10
years ago. Juan enjoys working at sea as well as spending time with friends
and family on his rotation. He has been happily married for 19 years and has
travelled extensively around the world. Juan loves to travel and play sport
and is a great chess player!

Craig Greville
2nd Engineer
New Zealand

Born and raised in Northland New Zealand on the west coast, Craig grew up
on a dairy farm. If Craig wasn’t helping out on the farm, most of the time he
was fishing, water-skiing, riding motorbikes, playing rugby or playing squash!
Craig spend 6 years building boats in Auckland at Alloy Yachts, this is where
he did his apprenticeship. As an apprentice he covered a wide range of ship
construction aspects. The engineering department was where his interest was
and where he specialised. From here he moved to the yachting industry and
has been in the industry for 13 years! He holds his Y3 CoC. When Craig is on
rotation, he spends as much time with his daughter and fiancé as possible.

Kennett Sinclair
3rd Engineer
South Africa

Ken was born in South Africa where he found his interest in engineering while
growing up on a farm. Since reverting his engineering passion to the ocean
in 2013, he has worked on vessels ranging in size from 30 meters – 90 meters,
and obtained essential experience to improve his engineering skills. Ken studied
Marine engineering through North Kent College in the United Kingdom, and he is
currently busy with ongoing studies. Ken’s experience was gained through vessels
sailing mostly in the Pacific, but he has also done seasons in the Mediterranean,
North Sea, and Asia. His interests include fitness, diving, watersports and studying.

Scott Barrett

Scott was born in Kent, UK. He has over 8 years experience within the industry.
Starting out in yachting working for a local AV/I.T company in London where
he was highly involved on numerous new build & refit projects. The experience
he gained here and his passion for yachting made the transition to the high
seas and as our on board ETO he takes pride in his role making sure that all
equipment is running to its optimum performance. In his personal time Scott has
a very keen interest in sport, in particular football & golf and has a real passion
for music.

Joe Standing

As a child holidaying in Mallorca, Joseph told himself at a young age that
he would one day work on one of those beautiful boats. Qualifying from the
Merchant Navy as both Deck & Engineering Officer, Joe earned himself a
stepping stone into a career as Yacht Engineer. With an equal passion for the
Arts, he managed to combine his music and technical abilities to graduate from
university in Sound & Music Technology. With modern yachts now incorporating
the cutting edge of Audio/Visual media presentation, Joe is your front desk for
technical support.
