a versatile solution to assist rural

electrification programmes in
equatorial latitudes
Phoenix 1 (P1)

The Ber Store has designed a versatile solution to assist

rural electrification programmes in equatorial latitudes.
The Phoenix 1 incorporates the latest technologies and
systems providing a fully automated mobile power station.

With 120 solar panels providing an extended aperture area of 153.6m2,

the Phoenix 1 has the capability of providing 27.6 kilowatts/h and
storing 500kwh using 230W solar panels.
The panels extend from closed to fully open in 180seconds.
With a built in anemometer the arrays will automatically close down if high
wind speed is detected, and once conditions become suitably calm, the unit
will reopen with an inbuilt hose down system removing any light debris.

UNIT OUTPUT

The unit’s output has been calculated as follows:

120 x 230w x 12hrs = 331.2KWh

331.2KWh x 365 = 120.88MWh
Allowing 20% losses = (- 24.176MWh)
120.88MWh – 24.176 MWh = 96.704MWh

However, not all dwellings will draw the same amount of power at the
one time. This is termed the diversity factor. With a diversity factor of
40% the capacity of the Phoenix 1 mobile PV unit can be calculated to
circa 135.38MWh/annually.

How many homes would this supply?

The answer to this question is entirely dependant on the specific
requirements of the end users as the case may be.

Reverse osmosis deionisation unit

The phoenix 1 incorporates a reverse osmosis deionisation water filtering
unit which can provide 1500 litres of pure distilled water from an external
water source. Smaller units are optional. This application is utilised to
provide distilled water for the auto levelling battery top up system and to
provide clean water to the end user as required.

APPLICATIONS

Rural Electrification Programs

The Phoenix 1 unit is a carbon free, versatile solution to rural electrification
programs, providing swift installation and minumum maintainance.

Single applications
Whether it be a large open event, individual dwelling requirement, school
or hospital application, Phoenix 1 mobile units can meet their needs.

Mini grid capabilities

Where needs are greater than the capacity of the unit, where applicable
the units can be connected in a mini grid offering a completely scalable
solution for the future.

Fixed and wireless telephony and internet access

On request we can provide additional applications such as the provision
of wireless internet access with fixed and wireless telephony options
improving education and commercial opportunities to remote rural
areas, via telecommunications and the world wide web.
