SINARMAS WORLD ACADEMY (SWA) OFFERS AN outstanding English language international education. SWA opened in July 2008, and currently offers Nursery to Grade 11 with an enrollment of 500 students. Grade 12 will be added in 2011 and the first class of seniors (Grade 12) will graduate in June 2012. The school has outstanding international award-winning facilities, which have been designed to suit the school’s commitment to providing an education that prepares students for life in the 21st century. Facilities are spacious and include gymnasiums; sport fields; fitness center; pools; adventure playground; studios for art, music, dance and drama; science laboratories, theater, libraries, IT Help Desk, student shop and a number of restaurants and cafes. SWA is implementing the International Baccalaureate (IB) programs. The school is an authorized IB Diploma and is also working towards authorization for the IB Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme. SWA expects to gain the IB Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme authorization prior to the commencement of the 2011-12 school year. SWA is a member of the Council of International Schools and in 2010 will host a preliminary visit, in its process to gain international accreditation from the Council of International Schools (CIS) and New England Association of School and Colleges (NEASC). SWA benchmarks its academic performance against OECD countries and other international schools worldwide and participates in the standardized ISA assessments, gaining above average results. Within its programs, SWA provides a special focus on languages. English is the language of instruction, and all students study Indonesian and Chinese

Mandarin. Chinese culture is also a focus of the Chinese language program. There is a strong focus on IT, with a school wide laptop program including a 1:1 program from Grade 4 – 12, whereby each student is provided with an Apple laptop. SWA is developing a public profile as a leading IT school, with staff involved in presenting at conferences, providing teacher workshops and supporting the Indonesian Ministry of Education in promoting the use of IT in schools. The student body represents 22 nationalities, including 35% international students and 65% of students from Indonesia. The faculty represents 13 nationalities with most coming from Indonesia, Australia, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, New Zealand and China. SWA offers an extensive co-curricular program including a wide range of sports and music offerings, in addition to activities such as Debate and Model United Nations, Photography, Chinese Music and Painting, Newspaper and IT Skills. There are many activities, which reflects the school’s strong commitment to embracing ‘Asian Culture’ such as Gamelan orchestra, language and various martial arts and dance. All students are involved in service activities with some participating in regional leadership and service programs. The annual Indonesian Field Studies Trip, is a weeklong program providing an opportunity for students in Grade 6 – 11 to learn and work beyond the school campus and directly engage with Indonesian society and culture. It is expected that all students will choose to take the full IB Diploma Programme or Certificates and seek entry to Colleges and Universities in Indonesia and throughout the world.
