RSLogix 5000 Version Downgrade

Everyone can able to upgrade RSLogix 5000 Program from Lower version to
Joined: 01 Jul 2013 higher version by changing the Version of the project in the Controller

Properties.
But If we asked to downgrade the project form the higher version to lower
version, then?

There is no possible tool or version downgrade option in the RSLogix 5000.

But we can do this downgrade by the following steps.

1. Open your RSLogix 5000 Program (XXXX.ACD) in the your PC.(I have tested
this for Versions 15,16,17,18,19,20)
2. Go to File-> Click Save As -> save your old PLC Code as Old.L5K, file type is
.L5K format.
3. Now Open a New file in RSLogix 5000 software and do the IO Configuration
as same as your old program you want to downgrade.
4. Save the PLC code, Repeat step 2 now and save this PLC code as New.L5K,
file type is .L5K format.
5. The PLC code we saved in .L5K format can opened using notepad.
6. Right Click on the Old and New .L5K File and open it in notepad.
7. Now Search the below line in your "old .L5K".
“END_ADD_ON_INSTRUCTION_DEFINITION TAG”
8. The Above line denoted end of the ADD_ON_INSTRUCTION_DEFINITION and
starting of TAG definition in your PLC program.
9. Now Copy all the lines above the
“END_ADD_ON_INSTRUCTION_DEFINITION” and paste it in your "New.L5K"
notepad file in the same location we copy from the "old.L5K" file.
10. Save the New.L5K fine.
11. Now Right Click on the New.L5K file and Open with -> Component of
RSLogix Application.
12. Save the file and import it.
13. Check for Errors.
