WORKING CAPITAL & CASH BUDGET

 Working capital is a measure of both a company's efficiency and its short-term

financial health. Working capital is calculated as:
Working Capital = Current Assets - Current Liabilities.

 Cash budget is an estimation of the cash inflows and outflows for a business
or individual for a specific period of time.
WORKING CAPITAL
Particulars Amount ( Rs)
(a) Current Assets :
Raw Material 2,94,000
Finished goods 10,00,000
Cash On Hand 50,000
Total 13,44,000

(b) Current Liabilities

Payment of Creditors 2,94,000
Payment to Labors 12,000
Total 3,06,000

Working Capital 10,38,000

WORKINGS

 Raw Materials :
3500sq.ft * 84 Rs = 2,94,000
 Finished Goods:
10,000sq.ft * 100 Rs = 10,00,000
 Payment to Creditors :
The reason it is 2,94,000 Rs because the company pay its amount after 10

Transportation Method

 North West corner method is used in transportation problems to calculate

basic feasible solution. The basic variables are selected from the north-west
corner of the transportation matrix.
 The Least Cost Method is another method used to obtain the initial feasible
solution for the transportation problem. Here, the allocation begins with the
cell which has the minimum cost. The lower cost cells are chosen over the
higher-cost cell with the objective to have the least cost of transportation.
 Vogel Approximation Method is used to find the feasible solution for
transportation of goods where the solution is either optimal or near to the
optimal solution. This method is used to reduce the transportation costs by
interpreting in a mathematical table the transportation costs from one place
to another. The column represents the demand centers while the row
represents the supply points.
Question

 A manufacturing company has four plants situated at different locations, all

producing the same product. The manufacturing cost varies at each plant due
to internal and external factors. The size of each plant varies, and hence the
production capacities also vary. The cost and capacities at different locations
are given in the following table:
 The company has five warehouses. The demands at these warehouses and the
transportation costs per unit are given in the Table below. The selling price
per unit is Rs. 30/-
 Formulate the problem to maximize profits.
 Determine the solution using TORA.
 Find the total profit
Solution

 The objective is to maximize the profits. Formulation of transportation

problem as profit matrix table is shown in Table. The profit values are arrived
as follows.

 Profit = Selling Price – Production cost –Transportation cost

Profit Matrix

Converting the profit matrix to an equivalent loss matrix by subtracting all

the profit values from the highest value 15. Subtracting all the values from
15.
Loss Matrix
North West Corner Method

 Total Cost :
Rs 4760
Least Cost Method

 Total Cost : Rs. 3870

Vogel Appropriation Method

Total Cost: Rs
3750
Minimum Spanning Tree

 A minimum spanning tree is a spanning tree of a connected,

undirected graph. It connects all the vertices together with the
minimal total weighting for its edges.
Question :

 A Telephone Company wants to connect 5 houses in a village located at

different places .The Distance is in 100 meters are given in the following
network .Help the Company to connect the all the nodes with minimum wire .
