Mr. RORY CAGUIMBAL

President, TUP Association of Professionals for the Environment (TAPE)

Dear Sir,

A warm advocacy for continuous life adversity!

The TUP- Green Society shall “implement activities that will benefit the student population of their
respective college with the recommendation of the Head of Committee on Special Projects and Approval
of the President, “ as stated in the Article VII Section 1.3 of the USG Constitution and By- Laws.

In view thereof, the TUP- GREEN SOCIETY under the College of Science (COS) will be conducting
activities as part of the celebration of the 23rd founding year of the College of Science from February 13-
15, 2017.

Since the TUP Green Society is the official accredited environmental organization of the University, the
projects that will be conducted will focus on activities which aim to impose high sense of sensitivity
about the current situation of the ecological world as well as to intensify students love for the
environment, in manners where they are comfortable with. These activities will circulate on the theme
“Bridging Science and Society Towards Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development”.

These are the activities to be done for the upcoming COS Week

• Essay Writing Contest- This aims to convey information about environmental conservation
demonstrated through proficiency in written communication. The essay writings of the
contestants will be posted in the Science Lobby of the University to impose an effective argument
about the responsible use of technology without sacrificing the importance of protecting the
environment.

• On the Spot Poster Making Contest- This targets to produce crafty and artful creations about
how young people see the environment today. It also aims to strengthen students’ eagerness to
save the environment through visual arts. By the use of visual arts, students will be able to realize
how beautiful the environment is and be able to recognize that environment is in high need of
conservation and protection.

• Extemporaneous Speaking- This aims to intensify the students love for the environment through
oral communication. Through this, students will be able to practice public speaking skills with
quality and to be more articulate about their thoughts, since environmental protection requires the
power to inform and persuade.
• Photo Contest- This aims to capture the natural beauty of our environment and be able to
produce photographed events in our environment that needs the most attention. These photos
taken by the contestants will be presented through a small exhibit in the COS Lobby

• Biolympics- This aims to challenge students if basic concepts about chemistry and biology
(which are the two fundamentals area of study for environmental conservation) are still retained
on their mind. These sport-like activities complement the quality academic instruction that the
college is pursuing. The competitions will offer the contestants opportunities to demonstrate good
behavior before, during and after the games. The athletes will play with high intensity to win
medals and put into practice the true spirit of sportsmanship in their pursuit for gold.

• Seminar on Proper Waste Segregation- This seminar aims to reach out all presidents of other
organizations in the University so that they will be the one responsible to propagate the message
of this gathering to their members. It also aims to impose the importance of proper waste
segregation in the protection of the environment and the health of the student populate.

• 2nd Young Researchers Conference-

This a Research Presentation of the best Thesis among Environmental Science Students for this
Academic Year. This activity aims to present different environmental problems in different
localities near Metro Manila Areas. It also aims to impose the importance of research in
environmental protection.

These activities will provide opportunities to develop the character of excellence and appreciation
of the environment as the center of all life forms as well as to cultivate knowledge and
understanding through the spirit of sportsmanship, camaraderie, fair play and respect for others.

Moreover, the organization is also after the promotion of the BS Environmental Science and BAS
Laboratory Technology Courses for it believes in the importance of these two science courses in the
attainment of the objective of the society. And by this, the organization will also conduct an Inter- School
