Defined Glossary - Part One

1. Analytics -- ​Data analysis​, also known as analysis of data or data analytics, is a 
process of inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling data with the goal 
of discovering useful information, suggesting conclusions, and supporting 
decision-making. 
2. Archive -- ​Digital Archives​ is a website that publishes digitized archival material. 
The website contains sources that are original digital items and transcribed and 
scanned. 
3. Broadcast​ -- to ​transmit (a program or some information) by radio or television. 
tell (something) to many people; make widely known. 
4. Content​ -- is what we create, publish and share on the Internet. There are four file 
formats for content and they are text, images, sound, and video.  
5. Content marketing​ -- ​a type of marketing that involves the creation and sharing 
of online material (such as videos, blogs, and social media posts) that does not 
explicitly promote a brand but is intended to stimulate interest in its products or 
services. 
6. Creative​ and ​Digital Media​ covers roles in a range of industries including TV, 
radio, games, film, animation, ​digital​ and photo imaging. 
7. Data Metrics​ -- ​A ​metric​ contains a single type of d ​ ata​, e.g., video views or 
equipment donations. A successful organization can only measure so many 
things well and what it measures ties to its definition of success. For 
conservation organizations, that's social change. ... This is what separates ​data 
from ​metrics​. 
8. Digital Darwinism​ is the phenomenon when technology and society evolve faster

9. Digital Strategy​ -- ​A ​digital strategy​, sometimes called a d ​ igital​ media ​strategy​, is 
a plan for maximizing the business benefits of data assets and 
technology-focused initiatives. A successful d ​ igital strategy​ requires a 
cross-functional team with executive leadership, marketing and information 
technology (IT) members. 
10. Document collaboration​ -- D ​ ocument​ and file ​collaboration​ are the tools or 
systems set up to help multiple people work together on a single ​document​ or 
file to achieve a single final version. 
11. E-commerce​ -- ​commercial transactions conducted electronically on the Internet.

12. Enterprise Architecture​ -- i​ s "a well-defined practice for conducting enterprise 


analysis, design, planning, and implementation, using a comprehensive approach 
at all times, for the successful development and execution of strategy.” 
13. Forums​ -- ​An Internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site 
where people can hold conversations in the form of posted messages. 
14. Internet Architecture​ -- The selection and arrangement of web tools to best serve 
the purpose and grow value for the organization. 
15. Members or membership​ -- ​A member is a person who belongs to a social group 
or organization. 
16. Platform​ -- delivers hosted services over the Internet. Contains web tools to 
organize the network, develop brand, grow community, publish and market COAC 
content, provides services to chapters, members and partners 
17. Publishing​ -- ​Publishing is the dissemination of literature, music, or 
information—the activity of making information available to the general public.
