Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Elder Valerie and I
are excited to present to our partners the Practical Life Academy training bro-
chure, The TRANSFORMER! This brochure allows you to take a look at upcom-
ing training opportunities, so that you can schedule in advance for the trainings.
It is our prayer that you not only grow spiritually in your personal lives, but that
you would bring about effective, positive changes in the lives of your family, minis-
tries in which you may serve as well as your community. It is our hearts desire to
provide an environment that enables each of you to mature spiritually through
biblically based trainings that will challenge and stretch you to grow in all areas of
your life. Our mission is to build disciples, a nation of kingdom believers one part-
ner at a time! Discipling others in the classroom setting is an essential component
in accomplishing this mission.

A STUDY OF THE FOUR GOSPELS – MINISTER BERNARD LACEY has been a partner
since 2002. He has served in various ministries to include the Media Ministry, Men’s Minis-
try, Prison Ministry, New Partners Academy and Ministry Leader of Practical Life Academy.
He is a graduate of Liberty University and has served our country in the military during war
and peace time. He and his wife LaTonya are blessed with two children.
AGING GRACEFULLY – MINISTER WILHELMINA PEARSON has been a partner since
2006, serving in the Circle of Light Ministry, Seniors Nearing Another Plateau Ministry
Leader, and New Partners Academy. She retired from the Norfolk Public School System.
She and her husband Raymond (deceased) have two children.
CANDIDATE FOR BAPTISM CLASS is facilitated by the Diaconate.
LISA DIXON has been a partner since 2002, serving in the Diaconate Ministry, New Part-
ners Academy, and as a Leader of the Torch Bearer Ministry. She and her husband Ronny
are blessed with two children and one grandson.
GREGORY PIERCE has been a partner since 2005, serving in various ministries including
the Diaconate, Door Keeper, and the Torch Bearer Ministries. He and his wife Janine are
blessed with two children.
TONI COX has been a partner since 2001, serving in various ministries including the Di-
aconate, Keys to the Kingdom, Women’s Ministry, Circle of Light, and Signet Family Life
Center. She is married to her wonderful husband Dan.
CHRISTIAN PARENTING TODAY – FRANK & MONIQUE ANDERSON have been partners
at the Mount since 2005 and have served in various ministries to include Intercessory
Prayer, Practical Life Academy, First Time Guest, and the Diaconate Ministry. They are
blessed to be the parents of five children.
CREDIT AND CREDIT REPAIR – JEFF WASHINGTON is the Principal Broker and Owner
of East Coast Realty in Chesapeake, VA. She is, also, licensed in North Carolina as a Real
Estate Broker. She has been a partner at the Mount since 2005.
MARRIAGE TALK - ELDER WAYNE & SISTER SABRINA RICHARDS have worshipped at
the Mount since 1992. Elder Wayne served in leadership positions with the Men's Ministry,
Trustee, Budget Committee, Family Life Department, MLCA Board, and currently serves as
PLA facilitator . Sister Sabrina has served in Pastor's Aide, Intercessory Ministry, Women's
Ministry, the Diaconate, circle of Light Curriculum Developer and PLA facilitator. The Rich-
ards have been married for 30 years and are blessed with three beautiful children.
SINGLE SERIES – DR. CASSANDRA BARKSDALE has been a partner at the Mount since
1995 and has served in several ministries. Currently, she is a member of the Mount Lebanon
Christian Academy Advisory board. Dr. Barksdale is a school administrator with Chesapeake
Public Schools. She received her doctorate degree in Education Administration and Policy
Studies from George Washington University.

December 1, 8, 15 Academy (PLA) classes and workshops. PLA is a part of the equipping strategy
for maturing believers. PLA classes are offered year round except in the month of
August. Our facilitators demonstrate fruitful Christian living and possess a deep
MARRIAGE COLLEGE – equipping marital training for married couples or for love for Christ and teaching others. Classes are held at the Cathedral unless oth-
those who are requesting to be married erwise noted.

Marriage Talk by Bishop Kim Brown – Bishop Brown’s
book will be used to teach couples how to cultivate a suc-
cessful marriage through self examination. Be a part of the
“clothesline talk” experience that will strengthen, and in
6:30 P.M. some cases, save your marriage. Registration is manda-
tory for all couples scheduled to be married at The Mount
this year and on a voluntary basis for all married couples.
Each couple is required to bring a copy of the book
and the accompanying workbook to each class.

This class will address these issues and how ac-
countability and principles of biblical stewardship are
required of the Christian single.

Caring for the Aging Parent - Gain a better understanding of your role as a care-
taker of the elderly and learn how to maintain a healthy balance in your life.
