This case focuses on how to plan the S1 interface on the LTE network.

Coverage areas in this case are classified into four types: dense urban areas, urban are
as, suburb areas, and rural areas.

Different parameters are provided in each scenario. This case introduces only paramete
rs related to this project and other parameters are set to the default values.

The network planning parameters are as follows:

Adjust the network planning parameters as required. Items in red boxes require modific
ation.

1. Public parameters

(1). Duplex Mode: This project uses the TD-LTE technologies and therefore chooses th
e TDD mode.

(2). TDD DL/UL Configuration: This parameter indicates the proportion of uplink and do
wnlink channels. Services on the network are asymmetrical services that feature large d
ownloading requirements. Therefore, the proportion of downlink channel to the uplink ch
annel should be 3:1.

(3). Cyclic Prefix: Use Normal CP because coverage areas are within the normal range.
For wide-area coverage, use Extended CP.
2. Scenario-related parameters

(1). User Environment: All UEs in this case use CPEs fixed on outdoor poles. Therefore,
deploy the sites outdoors.

(2). TMA Used: This project does not use the TMA.

(3). Frequency (MHz): This project uses the 1800 MHz band.

(4). System Bandwidth (MHz): This project uses 20 MHz bandwidth.

(5). PUCCH Overhead (RB): The RB of the 20 MHz bandwidth is 10.

(6). MIMO Scheme: This project uses the 2×2 MIMO technology.

(7). Area Coverage Probability: Coverage probability in urban areas is set to 95% and th
at in suburb areas is 90%.

3. S1 interface parameters

(1). Average Site Throughput (Mbps): According to different eNodeB coverage scenario
s, different eNodeBs are configured with different throughput licenses. Based on the diff
erent licenses, different sites use different throughput.
(2). Packet Size (Bytes): Services in this project are Internet and email services. The pa
cket size is set to 700 by default.

(3). IPsec Head (Bytes): This project does not deploy the IPSec. Set IPsec Head (Byte
s) to 0.

(4). VLAN Head (Bytes): This project deploys VLAN areas to separate services of each
eNodeB. Set VLAN Head (Bytes) to 4.

(5). IP Head (Bytes): This project does not use the IPV4. Set IP Head (Bytes) to 20.

For other Headers, use their default values.

Click Calculate to obtain the bandwidth required by the transmission network.

Items in the blue rectangular box are about the S1 interface bandwidth. Before using the
RND, understand the key input parameters and collect correct planning parameters.
