Service and Scoring

 To start the game, toss the shuttlecock in the air and let it bounce. The side
of the court in which the tip of the shuttlecock is pointing is the player who
will serve first.

 Players must serve behind the service line (See diagram above)

 There are no faults in badminton. If the shuttlecock hits the net or goes wide
from a serve, the opposition player receives the point.

 The player who wins the rally receives the point and serves to begin the next
point. A player continues serving until they lose a point.

 The servers score is always said first.

A point is scored when:

 The shuttlecock lands within the boundaries of the oppositions side of the
court. The lines of the badminton court are in.
 The opposition hits the shuttlecock into the net.

 The shuttlecock is not returned over the net with one hit.

 Opponent touches the net with any part of their body or racquet.

How to win a game

 When a player reaches 11 points they win a game.

 If the score is 10 – 10, then the player who gets two points ahead wins
the game.
Ex. 12 – 10, 18 – 16,

Rankings

 Every player will be given a ranking from 1 – 15.

 Game results will be recorded by our records group and published.

 A players win/loss record will have an effect on their ranking and


therefore, rankings may change from week to week.

Fixtures

 Fixtures will be drawn up and includes who each player will be playing,
their ranking and also which court the game will be played on.

 Fixtures will be randomly generated

 There will be 15 rounds of fixtures however, not all 15 rounds may be


played.

 Rounds will be limited to 10 minutes duration to fit in a minimum of 10


rounds
