Executive Summary
The inspection has dealt with certain workplace hazard that requires serious improvement.
An access to wholesome drinking water is under the minimum welfare requirement in safety
and health. Observation of possible drinking water contamination due to poor maintenance is
not acceptable. It can cause major health problem and diseases to personnel.
Health hazard caused by heat stress because of workers are not fully aware of the mitigation
plan under heat stress prevention program and flag system working procedures during hot
weather condition at summer time. And physical impairment, skin irritation, and respiratory
health problem that might cause by improper handling of chemical substances due to lack of
information and understanding of those materials that contain toxic chemicals.
The risk of electrocution from damaged facilities and equipment including industrial
appliances and those power tools used on site without regular inspection is also not
acceptable.
The possible risk of fire in the offices due to lack of available fire extinguishers others are
depressurized and discharged smoke detectors can cause serious damage to property.
And lastly, the most common source of minor/major injury in the workplaces is the risk of
slips, trips, and fall from poor lightings, worn out carpets in the offices, unsecured staircase
balusters, poor cable management, and poor housekeeping.
In line with these observations immediate action for rectification is highly recommended to
ensure safety and freedom to health risk.
OBSERVATION NUMBER 4
The risk of fall due to possible failure of loose staircase baluster could be a serious or fatal.
Apart from the cost in human terms there would also be a loss of professional time because of
such an accident. Staircase is in constant used. Immediate replacement of steel baluster fixed
to ground is highly recommended with an assessment cost of 2500 Qatar Riyals. JGC
COSTRUCTION RISK ASSESSMENT (B-S-B00-1100-240)
OBSERVATION NUMBER 14
Employees are not fully aware of heat stress prevention program and the flag system working
procedures during hot weather condition may lead to a high possible risk of heat stress
incident on site. The JGC heat stress prevention program (B-S-B00-1100-304) stated that all
employees should undergone heat stress training prior to deployment on site and also
devised a mitigation plan such as the flag system working procedures, cooling shelters, cool
drinking water, ect.. It is important that this training is well motivated, arranged and
coordinated by the HSE training management which will cost the company approximately 500
Qatar Riyals for pamphlets, posters, and other training paraphernalia. JGC HEAT STRESS
PREVENTION (B-S-B00-1100-340)
OBSERVATION NUMBER 2
In the case of faulty electric fan a section of the plastic cover is broken and electrically
conductive parts are possible to touch exposed to high risk of electrocution. The electric fan
should be taken out of service and plastic cover replaced. If the parts are not available, then
the whole unit should be replaced. Cost of replacement is more or less 500 Qatar Riyals.
JGC CONSTRUCTION RISK ASSESSMENT (B-S-B00-1100-052)
OBSERVATION NUMBER 15
Health hazard as in physical impairment due to ingestion or absorption of cement powders
and chemicals in the process of light weight concrete mixing and placing can be a caused of
several health problems and diseases to workers. It is significant that involved workers
working on materials containing toxic chemical substances have enough understanding on
the MSDS information and safe chemical handling. Training can be acquired in the site HSE
training centre by competent HSE trainers with the provision of training sticker or passport for
them to be easily recognized on site which will cost the management about 300 Qatar Riyals.

Conclusions
Management is committed to provide safe and healthy places to work and live. However,
unsafe acts and unsafe conditions in offices and on site still observed. In line with this list of
observations the management should taken into account the noted corrective actions and
recommendations for immediate rectification in order to maintain the highest standards of
occupational health, safety, and environmental management to prevent human suffering, loss,
damage to property, and environment.
Therefore, to strive to promote an accident and injury free culture on our project by taking the
responsibility, ownership, and commitment to maintain the health, safety, and well being of our
people, the environment, property, and the general public is the key to successful
management organization.
