PRE-REGISTRATION AND PRE-PAYMENT required for classes by 12pm on day of course.
Walk-Ins at class start time will not be accepted.

Payment upon registration is required in the form of cash, check, or charge. To register by phone, please
have credit card ready and call 815-963-8471. You can use a credit card and register for classes on our
website (address below) or you can print off the registration form on our website and either fax, mail, or
stop in the office during regular business hours with payment.

Cancellation/ Please choose your course carefully. If you are unable to attend the course, a full refund will be
Refund Policy: issued for cancellations made at least 3 business days prior to the start of class, less a $15
administrative fee for any of our basic certification courses, $30 fee for any Instructor Level or
Aquatic classes. Cancellations received less than 3 business days prior to the start of class
will be refunded at 50% of the registration fee. Students who do not attend class and have not
cancelled registration, prior to the class (during business hours), are not eligible for a refund.
Likewise, failure of a course will not result in a refund.
If you are unable to attend the course you are registered for, you must call the chapter at least
3 business days in advance of the start day. You will then have an opportunity to transfer
into a different class at no charge. You can transfer ONE TIME with no fee. If you transfer
less than 3 business days in advance of class OR more than once, each transfer will result in
a charge of $5.00.
Students in Instructor or Aquatics Classes who do not pass the pre-course tests may
audit the remainder of the course but can not attain certification. Only those who DO
NOT choose to audit at that point can register for the same class (within the following
6 months) and apply 75% of registration fee from original class.
The American Red Cross - Rock River Chapter reserves the right to cancel classes due to
insufficient enrollment or inclement weather. In the unlikely event that your class is
cancelled, we will make every attempt to contact you prior to class and transfer you to the
next available course or issue a full refund.

First Aid/CPR/AED Courses
The courses available through the First Aid/CPR/AED Program include: Adult CPR, Child CPR, Infant CPR, First Aid, and
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training. The Rock River Chapter has worked to offer components in varying
combinations. These courses are considered appropriate for Lay Rescuers (persons not required to give care as part
of a job). Please take a look at the following combinations and choose a class that fits your interests.

Adult CPR Certification Earned: Adult CPR (valid 1 yr) $42


This course gives individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and to provide care for breathing and cardiac
emergencies in adult victims until advanced medical personnel arrive.

Adult CPR/AED Certification Earned: Adult CPR/AED (valid 1 yr) $47

This course gives individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for breathing emergencies, perform cardiopulmonary
resuscitation (CPR) and learn how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest.

First Aid Certification Earned: First Aid (valid 3 yrs) $42
This course gives individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic first aid care for injuries and sudden
illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive. Skills covered include controlling bleeding, caring for muscle, bone, and joint
injuries, treating burns, and responding to shock.

First Aid and Adult CPR/AED Certification: First Aid (3 yrs); Adult CPR/AED (1 yr) $52
This course give individuals knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide care for breathing emergencies, perform
cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest. In
addition, this course trains individuals to become familiar in how to recognize and care for victims of injuries and sudden illness.

Adult/Child/Infant CPR Certification: Adult, Child, and Infant CPR (valid 1 yr) $52
This course teaches rescue breathing, procedures for choking and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adult, children and
infants. Knowledge and skills are also taught for recognizing signs and symptoms of a heart attack and tips to reduce the risk of
injury for children and infants.

CHALLENGE COURSES Certification Varies $25
Challenge dates and times are available for individuals who currently hold certification as well as for those individuals that do not
hold certification. These courses are made up of ONLY skills and written testing with NO allowance for review or practice with an
instructor. The instructor will not provide teaching, corrective feedback or practice time. There are NO pre-requisites for this sort of
format. This is designed for people who take the course, know the materials and skills and want to CHALLENGE out in a time and
cost efficient manner. You can choose what you would like to challenge out in from one component to all of them including: First
Aid, CPR - Adult, CPR - Child, CPR - Infant, AED - Adult, AED - Child. Course will be scheduled for 4 hours but time will vary on
number of participants in attendance. Price is the same whether you are challenging out for one component or all of them; it is to
your benefit to challenge out on all of them.

Professional Level
The courses available through the Professional Level include: Bloodborne Pathogens Training,
CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Administering Emergency Oxygen, and Emergency Response.
These courses are considered appropriate for professional rescuers (persons required to give care as
part of their job). Please take a look at the offerings and choose a course that fits your needs.

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certification valid 1 year $60


This course teaches professional rescuers (those with a duty to respond and provide care) the skills needed to respond
appropriately to breathing and cardiac emergencies, including the use of an automated external defibrillator for victims of
sudden cardiac arrest. The course also includes two-person CPR and the use of breathing devices.

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer CHALLENGE Certification valid 1 yr $30


Challenge dates and tmes are available for individuals who hold certification and those who do not. These courses are made
up of ONLY skills and written testing with NO allowance for review or practice with an instructor. The instructor will not provide
teaching, corrective feedback or practice time. There are NO pre-requisites and these are designed for people who know the
material and want the least expensive and quickest way to maintain certification.

Bloodborne Pathogens Training Certification: Bloodborne Pathogens (valid 1 yr) $30


This course trains and provides individuals with an understanding of the intent of the bloodborne pathogens
regulation issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA); how bloodborne pathogens
are spread; how to help prevent exposure incidents by following work practice controls, using engineering
controls and personal protective equipment, practicing good personal hygiene and properly cleaning and
disinfecting equipment and supplies; and to recognize, report and follow up on employee exposures to
infectious materials.

Youth Courses
Two of the courses available to the youth in our community: Basic Aid Training (for ages 8-10) and
Babysitter's Training (for ages 11+). These classes fill up quick so make sure to register now!

Basic Aid Training Certification: BAT Certificate - Has Attended (no exp) $30
Basic Aid Training (BAT) introduces 8 - 10 year-olds to the emergency action steps: Check-Call-Care, as well as to
basic first aid procedures. An activity book with puzzles and games teaches children how to prevent injuries and
what to do in an emergency. Make sure to send your child with a sack lunch.

Babysitter's Training Certification: Babysitter's Training - Has Attended (no exp) $50
Babysitter's Training is designed for youth, ages 11 to 15, to provide individuals with the information and skills
necessary to responsibly care for children in the absence of a parent or adult guardian. The training will help
participants develop skills in leadership and professionalism, basic care, safety and safe play, and first aid. Bring
a sack lunch.

Instructor Courses

along with various basic courses and different combinations are available.

Lay Responder First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Course $140


Individuals will "Challenge" out of Basic Certification skills, including: First Aid/CPR/AED. The course
then trains individuals in Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT). Upon successful completion,
individuals will be certified to teach courses from our Lay Responder First Aid/CPR/AED Program.
