OBJECTIVE
To become proficient with the use of Microsoft Excel® by completing various tasks that utilizes MS
Excel functions and become familiar with statistical measures common to scientific results discussion.
INTRODUCTION
Reporting scientific data often involves plotting graphs to provide visual representations of
experimental results. It also becomes necessary to discuss results in terms of statistical analysis to
compare different results. In this lab exercise, you will research how to correctly complete each task.
It is imperative that each student do your own work – you may collaborate with your partner(s)
however; please remember that YOU must know how to do each task because they are necessary for
your lab reports.
INSTRUCTIONS
Complete the following tasks using Microsoft Excel®. Read and follow directions carefully. For this
assignment only, do NOT convert your files to PDF. Upload your Excel worksheets showing the
plotted graphs and calculations to Canvas by noon Monday, Aug. 27, 2018. You must use the
software equations for ALL calculations.
I. Create a Scatter Line Plot of the following values. What is the slope of this line? Calculate the sum,
mean, median and standard deviation of each column (x-values and y-values, separately). Determine the
equation of the line. Ensure you label each axis and title the graph.

II. Create Scatter Line Plots with the following data that depicts concentration of three different
reagents versus time. Your graph should have 3 line plots. Calculate the mean and standard deviation
of each set of concentration values ([A]t; [B]t; [C]t)
III. Create a bar graph with the following data. Label axes and give a title to your graph.
