New Course: Managing Incidents on Strategic Highways
(and surrounding areas)

24th-26th May 2006

Working in Partnership
When emergency incidents occur on our strategic highways and road networks, the response usually requires a number of different organisations to work together in a coordinated way. These organisations include the Emergency Services, the Highways Agency with their contractors, vehicle recovery services and local authorities to name a few. Their shared aim is to resolve the incident and return the situation to normality as quickly, efficiently and effectively as possible. This two-day workshop examines the roles and responsibilities of the different organisations and the co-ordination of these functions to address and resolve the incident and its consequences. As part of our ongoing quality management commitment, we have reviewed this course in response to changing demands, as the Civil Contingencies Act (CCA) 2004 becomes more firmly embedded within organisations.
