What is your philosophy of the self?

Basic Idea: We can only understand ourselves fully when we look at ourselves in
all aspects.

Explanation: When one focuses too much on a certain aspect, they could fail to
see how the other aspects of themselves shape a person into being who they are.
It could mean disregarding the other things in life that make us who we are. It is
not just about brain processes, because there is so much more. It’s not just about
ids, egos and superegos, because there are also brain processes. It is not just about
the impressions we give to others, the actions we do or the thoughts we think. If
we focus only on certain aspects, it’s almost as if we’re considering the motionless,
comatose patient as being not human.
In order to fully understand ourselves, we must first accept that there are an
incredible amount of factors that take place in order to shape us into the human
beings that we are. Instead of isolation, we should think of brain processes as being
hand in hand with ids, egos and superegos. Impressions should go hand in hand
with our actions and our thoughts.
This is due to the fact that sometimes, we do things that surprise us. We
could think that we are incapable of doing something, but apparently, we can.
The human being is incredibly complex, almost inscrutable. Fully
understanding ourselves is difficult, and it would take an immense amount of time.
That’s why we need to consider every single aspect or factor possible when we
want to understand ourselves.
