91. You need to use SSH keys to secure your ILO access. When you create the key file, what information must it contain?

Answer: The key files are associated with the single user.

Explanation: When you add an SSH key to iLO, you paste the SSH key file into iLO, the file must contain the

user-generated public key. The iLO firmware associates each key with the selected local user

account. If a user is removed after an SSH key is authorized for that user, the SSH key is removed.

92: Which user privilege enables you to update the firmware of an ILO 3 device remotely?

Answer: Configure ILO 3 Settings

Explanation:

The user privileges allows you to deny or allow iLO features, you can select the following
privileges under account privileges:

 Remote Console Access—Enables a user to remotely access the host system Remote
Console, including video, keyboard, and mouse control.
 Virtual Media—Enables a user to use the Virtual Media feature on the host system.
 Virtual Power and Reset—Enables a user to power-cycle or reset the host system.
 These activities interrupt the system availability.
 A user with this privilege can diagnose the system by using the Generate NMI to
System button.
 Configure iLO Settings—Enables a user to configure most iLO settings, including
security settings, and to remotely update the iLO firmware. This privilege does not
enable local user account administration.
 After iLO is configured, revoking this privilege from all users prevents
reconfiguration with the web interface, HPQLOCFG, or the CLI.
 Users who have access to iLO RBSU, the UEFI System Utilities, or HPONCFG
can still reconfigure iLO.
 Only a user who has the Administer User Accounts privilege can enable or
disable this privilege.
 Administer User Accounts—Enables a user to add, edit, and delete local iLO user
accounts.
 A user with this privilege can change privileges for all users.
 If you do not have this privilege, you can view your own settings and change your
own password.

Important! Only users with the Administer User Accounts privilege can manage other users.
All users can change their own password using the View/Modify User feature.

93: What is a benefit of Advanced ILO3 compared to the Standard version?

Answer: Offers Virtual Administration

HP iLO 3 and iLO 2 both consist of an intelligent processor and firmware that provides
standard and advanced levels of Lights-Out remote management functionality.

There are four license types for HP iLO 3 and HP iLO 2:

 HP iLO Standard— HP iLO Standard license provides basic system board management
functions, diagnostics, and essential Lights-Out functionality as standard server features.
 HP iLO Advanced— HP iLO Advanced license offers sophisticated virtual
administration features for full control of servers in dynamic data center and remote
locations. Advanced functionality can be licensed with the optional HP ProLiant
Essentials Integrated Lights-Out Advanced Pack.
 HP iLO Standard for BladeSystems — HP iLO Standard for BladeSystems license
provides essential remote management capabilities bundled as standard features on
most ProLiant c-Class blade servers.
 HP iLO Advanced for BladeSystems — HP iLO Advanced for Blade System license
activates optional iLO 3 features that are not bundled with an unlicensed system.

For more information about license types and purchasing licenses, see the following website:
http://www.hpe.com/info/ilo/licensing.

94: You only have one port available on your network switch and you need both ILO connectivity and server access. What must you
use to facilitate the configuration?

Answer: Shared Network Port

Shared network port

In addition to these connections, the iLO can be connected in an iLO Shared Network Port
(SNP) using the server's NIC instead of the dedicated iLO management NIC for server
management.

iLO server management uses iLO Shared Network Port or the iLO Dedicated Management
NIC port. Both of the ports cannot operate simultaneously.

However, when Shared Network Port is disabled, the system NIC is not completely disabled.
Regular network traffic still passes through the system NIC. When Shared Network Port is
disabled or unplugged, any traffic going to or coming from iLO will not pass on to iLO through
the Shared Network Port.

The standard hardware configuration provides iLO network connectivity through the iLO
Shared Network Port on servers using the iLO Dedicated Management NIC. The Shared
Network Port operation can be enabled through the iLO interface.
This configuration simplifies the network and reduces total network cost. Fewer cables, hubs,
and switches are needed because both regular and iLO network traffic comes through the
system NIC.

The main disadvantage of using the iLO SNP for iLO server management is the lack of
speed compared to the dedicated iLO management NIC. As a result, not all iLO
management features are available through the iLO SNP configuration

95: How is the ILO ROM Utility accessed?

Answer: From F8 during POST when prompted.

HP recommends using the iLO RBSU or the iLO 4 Configuration Utility to initially set up
iLO. These ROM-based utilities are accessible each time the server is restarted. You enter
the iLO RBSU by pressing F8 during POST when prompted. You enter the iLO 4
Configuration Utility (UEFI System Utilities) for iLO 4 by pressing F9 during POST.

To access the ROM-based configuration utilities in iLO 4 systems:

 iLO 4 RBSU—Press F8 during POST.

 iLO 4 Configuration Utility—Press F9 during POST to enter the UEFI System
Utilities. Then select System Configuration > iLO 4 Configuration Utility.

After either of these selections has been made, use the arrow keys and the Enter key to
navigate through the iLO RBSU or iLO 4 Configuration Utility menus. Follow the on-screen
instructions to make configuration changes. See the descriptions below.

For information about using the UEFI System Utilities, see the HP UEFI System Utilities User
Guide for HP ProLiant Gen9 Servers, which is available in the HP Enterprise Information
Library.

96: You are attempting to troubleshoot a problem on a server but cannot connect to the ILO3 processor via the NIC. Which actions
should you perform to identify the issue?

Answer: Look for the intermittent flashes on the green LED indicator which indicates normal network traffic, and run the ILO RBSU
to confirm that the NIC is enabled and verify the IP address and subnet mask.

Explanation: Problem: Unable to connect to the iLO processor through the NIC

Solution: If you cannot connect to the iLO processor through the NIC, try any or all of the
following troubleshooting methods:

 Confirm that the green LED indicator (linstatus) on the iLO RJ-45 connector is on. This
condition indicates a good connection between the PCI NIC and the network hub.
 Look for intermittent flashes of the green LED indicator, which indicates normal network
traffic.
 Run the iLO RBSU to confirm that the NIC is enabled and verify the assigned IP address
and subnet mask.
 Run the iLO RBSU and use the F1-Advanced tab inside of the DNS/DHCP page to see
the status of DHCP requests.
 Ping the IP address of the NIC from a separate network workstation.
 Attempt to connect with browser software by entering the IP address of the NIC as the
URL. You can see the iLO Home page from this address.
 Reset iLO.

97: How does Kerberos provide strong network authentication for ILO3?

Answer: Two Factor authentication security

Explanation: Kerberos
is the network authentication mechanism used by Microsoft in Windows for Active
Directory. Kerberos is designed to provide strong authentication by using secret-key cryptography.

Explanation:

The table below lists the key features of iLO 3 (or iLO 2) with their corresponding benefits.

Feature Benefit

Remote Serial The iLO 3 remote serial console provides a bi-directional serial
console (Virtual communication path between the remote user and the server.
Serial port) Launching the Remote Serial Console enables you to
exchange text data with the host using the iLO 3 Virtual Serial
Port.

Virtual power Virtual Power and Reset is a user privilege that allows you to
and reset control power-cycle or reset the host platform. Any of these activities
interrupts the availability of the system. You can also diagnose
the system using the virtual NMI button.

Remote Console A high-performance Remote Console allows administrators to

(Virtual KVM remotely administer operating systems and applications in
technology) everyday situations.

Virtual Media The USB-based Virtual Media feature allows an IT

administrator to boot the remote server using a standard 1.44-
MB diskette, CD ROM, DVD+R or USB flash drive on a client
PC or from a floppy diskette, CD or DVD image stored on a
virtual media server on the network. Virtual Media saves time
and increases efficiency by eliminating the need to visit
servers in datacenters and remote sites just to insert a
diskette, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM or USB key.

Scripting System administrators can use virtual power and virtual media
in scripts for automated deployment and provisioning.

Server health iLO 3 monitors temperatures in the server and sends

monitoring and corrective signals to the fans to maintain proper server
maintenance cooling. In addition to temperature monitoring, iLO 3 provides
(only for iLO 3) fan status monitoring and monitoring of the status of the power
supplies, voltage regulators, and the internal hard drives.
Kerberos support Kerberos authentication provides ability to limit access to local
(only for iLO 3) users.

IPMI over LAN iLO 3 has IPMI 2.0 over system (KCS) and LAN interfaces.
(only for iLO 3) IPMI over LAN is important to Scale–out /Linux customers.
IPMI can be accessed using IPMITOOL or IPMIUTIL.

licenses.

99: You are configuring ILO 3 for directory services and need to take advantages of the HP Extended
schema. Which requirements or tools does the Lights-Out directory services integration require to extend
the schema?

Answer: Schema software installer software and Management snap-in installer

Explanation:

iLO requires specific software that extends the schema and provides snap-ins to manage the iLO network.
The HP Directories Support for ProLiant Management Processors package contains the schema installer
and the management snap-in installer. You can download the software from
http://www.hp.com/support/ilo4.

100: What are the three states of ILO3 and ILO2 High Efficiency Module (HEM)?

Answer: Auto, Even, and Odd

Explanation: The available HEM redundant power supply modes are:

 N/A—Not applicable.
 Balanced Mode—Delivers power equally across all installed power supplies.
 High Efficiency Mode (Auto)—Delivers full power to one of the power supplies, and
places the other power supplies on standby at a lower power-usage level. A semi-
random distribution is achieved, because the Auto option chooses between the odd or
even power supply based on the server serial number.
 High Efficiency Mode (Even Supply Standby)—Delivers full power to the odd-
numbered power supplies, and places the even-numbered power supplies on standby at
a lower power-usage level.
 High Efficiency Mode (Odd Supply Standby)—Delivers full power to the even-
numbered power supplies, and places the odd-numbered power supplies on standby at
a lower power-usage level.
 Not Supported—The installed power supplies do not support High Efficiency Mode.

Important! HEM settings cannot be edited using the iLO web interface. They can only be
modified using the iLO ROM-Based Setup Utility (RBSU) or HP UEFI Settings.
