YFK–International Kashmir Lobby Group (Youth Forum For Kashmir) organized a reception for
Honorable Former Australian Senator Ms. Lee Rhiannon, who completed her term last month
as a Senator for New South Wales.

She is very vocal on Kashmir and is known for her speech on Kashmir in Australian Upper House
during her tenure.

The reception was coordinated with Kashmir Affairs Desk at Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA),
Islamabad Pakistan, and was organized at YFK Main Office in Islamabad, Pakistan between 1400
to 1600 Hrs. on Friday, 31 August 2018.

A rich and engaging program was designed for the guest, explained with this report.

It included:

 Detailed briefing on YFK activism & lobbying
 Briefing on the current human rights situation in Indian Administered Kashmir
 This part of the briefing was conducted by Mr. Ahmed Quraishi, the Executive

Representatives from the leading Universities of the Federal Capital Islamabad; National
Defence University (NDU), International Islamic University (IIU), and youth related NGOs
participated.

Results

Sen. Rhiannon suggested organizing a YFK Kashmir event in Australia attended by Australian
organizations and politicians supportive of Palestinians. She said that those activists know
about Palestine & Gaza but not about Kashmir in details.

Sen. Rhiannon said that she is glad to visit YFK and that she found the meetings here refreshing,
informative & different. Lately she tweeted via her personal Twitter handle @leerhiannon and
appreciated YFK.

Senator Rhiannon Gets Briefing by Kashmir Lobbyists

ISLAMABAD—An influential politician from Australia visited Pakistan over the weekend to get
briefings on Kashmir, part of growing international interest in the conflict after UN's landmark
report.

Senator Lee Rhiannon, who completed her term as Senator for New South Wales last month,
met in Islamabad with Ahmed Quraishi, Executive Director at YFK–International Kashmir Lobby
Group (Youth Forum For Kashmir).

A team of lobbyists at YFK, which works with UN mechanisms on the situation in Kashmir,
delivered a detailed briefing to Sen. Rhiannon on the situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir. YFK
representative Shaista Safi, from Baramulla in the Indian-occupied territories, briefed Sen.
Rhiannon on prevalent views and opinions within the Kashmiri younger generation.

The YFK arranged a photo exhibit that consisted of only verified, dated and captioned pictures
from the conflict zone in Indian-occupied Kashmir, captured by credible international
photojournalists and news organizations.

Sen. Rhiannon received copies of research documents prepared by YFK on aspects of Kashmir
Conflict that require urgent humanitarian attention.

The YFK Executive Director Ahmed Quraishi said that Pakistan's expanding influence and
relations at the international level will help Kashmir freedom movement, drawing parallel to
the international acceptance that led to the first UN Security Council Resolutions on Kashmir.
