The Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Welcome to St. Anthony Shrine! With a $5.6 million annual budget, an 11-story building, and a mission
which focuses on helping people who are on the margins of society and Church, both the City of Boston
and the non-profit community recognize St. Anthony Shrine as a significant provider of social services in
the Downtown Crossing neighborhood of Boston. Many of the programs here at the Shrine are open to
people of all faiths. With regard to our programs which holistically meet the needs of the human person,
here some of the team leaders and their respective responsibilities:
Anthony Andreottola, Director of the Fr. Mychal Judge Recovery Center. Individual and group
counseling sessions, substance abuse recovery, 12-step groups including AA, Sex Addicts Anonymous,
and Overeaters Anonymous. 617-542-6440 ext. 183
Mary Ann Ponti, Director of Outreach Programs, including Health Clinic for Homeless Women, the Food
Center (groceries), the Veterans Program, and the Kids Program. The Health Clinic is in partnership with
BHCHP. Mary Ann is extremely knowledgeable about the downtown homeless demographic and the
resources available to them. 617-542-6440 ext. 258
Andrea Caputo of BHCHP is the Director of Shrine’s Health Clinic for Homeless Women. 617-542-6440 ext. 118
David Nolan, Peer Counselor for people who are recovering from sexual abuse. In this time when this
difficult topic is making news in Church and society, David is our terrific go-to resource on this issue.

Fr. Joe Quinn, OFM, Director of our LGBTQ group. Fr. Joe is the wildly popular heart and soul of
this group at the Shrine. You walked underneath “All Are Welcome” banners upon entering the Shrine.

Br. Paul O’Keeffe, OFM, Director of the Counseling Center. Daniel Alfaro and Han Bertrand both work
for Br. Paul in the Counseling Center. People come to psychotherapy for a variety of reasons: Anxiety,
depression, loss, addictions, family crisis, etc...All of these reasons provide us with opportunities to reach
inside ourselves and create something new out of our struggles. The goal of all psychotherapy is to foster
sustained emotional growth and resolutions to issues that prevent us from enjoying a happy and fulfilled
life. At St. Anthony counseling office, we strive to walk with people in their sorrows and the challenges
they face in life. 617-542-6440 ext. 103
Diane Monaghan works with parents who are grieving the loss of a child’s death, of any age, for any
reason. 617-542-8057
Matt Pastore. English as a Second Language Program, a new offering at the Shrine. mpastore@

Carol Mitchell, Director of Spiritual Direction and Spiritual Companionship programs. cmitchell@

We regularly have graduate-student interns with us. Claudia Dupre works in the Michael Judge
Recovery Center and Rachel Dunlap works in Pastoral Ministry at the Shrine.
We have a significant social media presence. Visit us at stanthonyshrine.org or follow us on Facebook.
One popular item on our social media is our Lazarus Program, Shrine funerals for the homeless
population of Boston. We are continually looking to build new partnerships with non-profit, for-profit, or
governmental groups interested in helping the populations that we serve. If you have any ideas for new
partnerships, my email is tconway@stanthonyshrine.org.
Thank you for your support!
