Long ago, people talked with just their hands. These first people did not know how to speak
words. Instead, they made signs with their hands.
Much later, Native Americans used sign language. There were many tribes. Each tribe spoke
a different language. However, sign language was one way of talking that everyone knew.
Today sign language helps people who cannot hear. Many dear people learn to speak with
their hands. So do their families, friends and teachers. This way, deaf people can talk with others.

B. Read the story.

We all know that fish have two eyes. Their eyes can only see under the water.
However there is a fish with four eyes. It can see above and below the water at the
same time.
This fish has two eyes on top of its head. They look like two round, glass
balls. Each eye is really two eyes in one. The top part can see in the air. The
bottom part can see in the water. Each part works by itself.
This strange fish is long and thin. It swims just under the water. The top part
of each eye sticks out of the water. Now the fish has two eyes above the water and
two eyes below.
The eyes on top can see insects on the water or in the air. The eyes at the
bottom can search for food under the water. The four-eyed fish can get plenty to
eat.
