FOR THE
PROPOSED TWO STOREY RESIDENCE
LOCATED AT NUMBER 633 SANCHO PANZA STREET,
SAMPALOC MANILA.
1.1 SERVICES
a.) Secondary service voltage shall be 230 v, three phase with ground.
The following shall be grounded in accordance with the detail drawings on the plans and
the requirements of the latest edition of the Philippine Electrical Code (PEC) along with the
standard grounding practices:
a.) Metal frames, cabinets , structures and other metal objects in the electrical room.
b.) All metallic conduits and raceway system including metal boxes.
c.) Non-current carrying metal parts of electrical equipment such as lighting fixtures,
motor frames, and metal conduits.
d.) Receptacle outlet shall be grounding type.
.
Feeder conductor and raceways shall be installed as shown on the plan and no changes
shall be made without the written consent of the Architect. Feeder conductor shall be
continuous without splices between terminals.
Sufficient conduits support for feeders installed below slab shall be provided using 3/8
inches Anchor grip and full thread installed at every two meters (2.0 m) of conduit run.
1.5 BRANCH CIRCUITS
The plans indicate the general methods of installations of all circuit wirings and the outlets
which are to supply from this circuit. Branch circuit raceways shall be run from the outlets
to panel boards as direct as the building conditions will allow, no wire of direct circuit shall
be installed in one conduit. When homeruns exceeded thirty meters (30 mtr) for lighting
and power branch circuit the next higher size of wire shall be used. Exact location of
lighting and power outlet shall be properly identifies on site.
Power and lighting panelboards fabricated from 1.5 mm thick black iron sheet with epoxy
primer and baked enamel paint finish. Front cover shall have a stainless push or open or
“TAKEGEN” lock.
Bus bar shall be made from solid copper with silver plating on connection portion.
All Main and branch circuit breaker shall be bolt on type .All main circuit breakers of each
panelboard shall be vertically mounted.
Panelboards front cover shall have a painted tag and the back of the front cover shall have a
typewritten directory which will indicate the locations of the outlets or load served.
Power, lighting and auxiliary outlet boxes shall be fabricated from 1.5 mm thick galvanized
Steel sheet with metal primer before installations. All outlets boxes shall have ground
terminal for bonding of ground wires.
RACEWAY SYSTEM
Conduit and tubing shall be as specified in Part II 2.03 of this section. No more than four (4)
Ninety ((90) degree bends in any run, an intermediate pull box shall be installed to facilitate
pulling of wires.
Materials to be used shall conform to the standard and specifications set by the following
where such standard and specifications have been established for particular type of materials
or equipment in question.
2.02 CONDUITS
Shall be hot dip galvanized standard weight pipes made of mild steel with smooth
circular bore and shall conform to local and U.S. specifications. Standard length of 3.05
m including coupling reamed and threaded on each end. Conduit shall be Japan made
Matsushita brand.
Shall be made of mild steel pipe, lead tin coated and hot dip galvanized finish with
smooth circular bore standard weight pipe. Standard length of 3.0 meter . Conduits shall
be Japan made Matsushita brand.
CS40 smooth non-metallic conduit conforming to Philippine National standard no. 14 for
PVC pipes. Conduits shall be in standard length 3.05 meters including coupling. Conduit
coupling and adapter shall be Neltex, Atlanta or Emerald brand.
Shall be insulated for 600 Volts. Feeders, sub feeders and branch circuit wires and cables shall
be copper soft drawn and annealed, of 98% conductivity, type THHN or THW only. Use Phelp
Dodge, Philflex, Duraflex brand only.
Wire shall be recent and in no case be more than one year old. Any conductor whose insulation
shows sign of deterioration within one year from final acceptance of work shall be replaced by
the contractor at his own expense. Sufficient length of slacks shall be left inside boxes for
splicing and or connecting to apparatus without straining.
All joint or splice for # 8.0 sq. mm or larger shall be made with a double indent mechanical
connector. After the conductor have been mechanically connected used rubber and PVC
electrical tape to make the insulation of the joint or splice equal to the insulation of the
conductors. The connectors’ shall be UL approved.
a.) Fluorescent lighting fixtures housing shall be fabricated from 0.65 mm thick black iron steel
sheet , treated with epoxy primer and or baked enamel paint finish. All fluorescent shall be
internally wired with not less than no 1.0 mm type AFPD fixture wires or equal.
a.) Ground rod shall be steel with copper welded exterior surface, 20 mm diameter x
3000mm.
b.) Ground wire shall be bare copper.
c.) Connection of ground rod to bare copper wire shall be by exothermic welding process.
2.07 OTHERS
All other materials not mentioned herewith shall be one approved for the locations and
intended use and shall be the best of its kind for proper functions and long lasting use.
For all power circuits the following test shall be carried out in the order specified and the results
recorded on a circuit test sheet. Each circuit test sheet shall be signed off by the Field Work
Engineer and the Owners representative Electrical Engineer before the circuit may be energized.
The Electrical Contractor shall ensure that the test engineers are suitable qualified, trained and
provided with appropriate test equipment. Test Engineers shall not be taken from Installation
teams but shall be brought into site as independent individuals. They will not therefore be
influenced by the Contractor people.
TEST SEQUENCE
1.) Installation visual inspection
2.) Circuit conductor continuity
Tests for loose or high resistance joints.
3.) Protective conductor continuity
4.) Measurement of insulation resistance (Megger tests)
5.) Check protection barriers and enclosures
6.) Verify phase rotations / polarity.
7.) Measure earth fault loop impedance and check protection operation.
8.) Test operation if earth leakage circuit breaker is fitted.
