“Counting numbers from 0-9”
I. Counting
0 – zero ( ze is pronounced as zen not as zebra)
1 – ichi いち
2 – ni に
3 - san さん
4 – yon よん
5- go ご
6 – roku ろく
7 – nana なな
8 – hachi はち
9 – kyuu きゅう
10 – juu じゅう
II. Asking for a friend’s number
P1: Denwa bangou oshiete? (Please tell me your number/Can I have your
number?)
P2: Un. Iiyo. (Yes, ok) ###########
P1: Arigatou.
III. In case you’re getting a friends contact number and you miss some parts
(di narinig or medj nalito sa numbers)
P1: Denwa bangou oshiete?
P2: Uun. Iiyo. ########
P1: *confused; di nakuha/nabingi bigla* Gomen(informal)/ Sumimasen (formal),
mouichido onegai. [Sorry, please repeat.]

IV. Reading phone numbers

Example:

0916-498-3597

The dash (-) is pronounced/read as “no”

If you will read the phone number above it will be like this:

“Zero, kyuu, ichi, roku, no(indicates the hyphen), yon, kyuu, hachi, no,
san, go, kyuu, nana”

V. Other information na pwedeng hingin


- Denwa bangou – phone number
- Meru-adoresu – email address
- Juusho – home address

When asking someone these information, the format will be the same:
________________ oshite.

You just have to place denwa bangou, meru adoresu or juusho on the blank
depending on what you want to ask them.
Situation 1:
Ayessa and Czareen went to a party. Suddenly, Czareen saw a handsome
guy and decided to get his number. It turns out that the guy was Japanese. Good
thing Czareen learned Nihongo when she was in high school so he approached the
guy.

Czareen: Denwa bangou oshiete?


Guy: Un. Iiyo. Zero, kyuu, yon, go, no, san, zero, nana, no, yon, zero, ni, nana
desu.
Czareen(nabingi) : Uh, gomen, mouchido onegai.
Guy: Zero, kyuu, yon, go, no, san, zero, nana, no, yon, zero, ni, nana desu. (0945-

Czareen: Arigatou

Situation 2 (formal)
Ayessa went to a restaurant to meet a client named Ms. Sophia. In order to
contact her, she wanted to get her email address.

Ayessa: meru adores oshiete?


Sophia : Un. Iiyo. mssophia@gmail.com desu
Ayessa: Sumimasen, mouichido onegai.
Sophia: mssophia@gmail.com desu
Ayessa: Arigatou gozaimasu.

Situation 3
Eiyhel wanted to send her gift to her friend from the province.
Unfortunately, they changed their home address.
Eiyhel: Juusho oshiete.
Friend: E.Pantaleon St. Mandaluyong City
Eiyhel: Arigatou.
