1.

Why do you wish to study in Canada in the program for

which you have been accepted?
I, MD.Rafi Niaz, S/O: MD. Azmol Hossain and Rouson Ara Begum, Residing at Nisorgo 16
Hasonnagar,Sunamganj,Bangladesh. Date of birth:08/09/1999, Bearing passport no: BT
0701202, By faith: Muslim, By Profession: Student, By Nationality: Bangladeshi(By Birth).

I have successfully completed my SSC from Government Jubilee High school in 2015 and HSC
from Birshreshtha Noor Mohammad Public College in 2017 , located in Sylhet and Dhaka
,Bangladesh respectively. I was able to secure GPA 4.06 and GPA 5.00 in SSC and HSC exams
respectively.
I have decided to study Psychology (Bachelor of Arts), (UTP Stage :2) in International College
Of Manitoba. I have always found psychology fascinating since childhood. The wonders
psychology has described human behavior is inexplicable.it never failed to intrigue my sense of
interest and for that I have done many online based courses and read many books about
psychology from the very beginning as co-curricular activity. I always had the curiosity to know
and learn about cognitivism, neuropsychology, behavioral genetics and what not. Now as to
explain why I have chosen ,
Being a pathway to the University of Manitoba, International College Of Manitoba categorizes
itself as N excellent university to get started in. As an international student, quality of education
and life safety has always been a great concern for me and after consulting with my seniors and
peers, through self-research and comparing the standards of both educational and living quality
of 1st world countries, Canada, to me stood out to be the most suitable place for me.

As a country, Canada has consistently been ranked in top 5 best Countries to live in by United
Nation and it’s Human Development Index (HDI) rankings. It is also the 8th safest place to be as
per a survey conducted by Global Peace Index(GPI) in 2017 besides Canadians are widely-
known for their friendly behavior. Many factors can be stated as to why Canada is considered to
be the Paragon of the countries to live in, But Multiculturalism significantly plays its role to
back up the statistics mentioned above. Being multicultural, people from various religious
traditions and distinctive cultures tend to live in Canada, but the way Canadians embrace the
diversity is truly remarkable. As I will be in the midst of multiple cultural and ethnic groups of
people, I see this as an opportunity to boost my communication skills and explore life as we
know it.
A country which spends 5.3% of its GDP in education, it is pretty obvious that Canada is home
to some of the leading and prodigious educational institutions of the world and that’s what
makes Canada one of the most educated Country in the world. Regardless of the less
recognition, Canada has climbed into the top tier of international rankings. In the most recent
round of international Pisa test ran by OECD ( Organization for Economic Co-operation &
Development ) the regional as well as a country, the results of Canada was splendid. In fact,
they are far ahead of their geographical neighbors which attracted me the most.
Taking convenience and standard of education into account as an international student,
Regardless of the finesse quality, the cost of living and tuition fees are comparatively much
lower and affordable.
Furthermore, as a Canadian degree is globally recognized, It holds an enormous value in
international job market.
The persuasion of my dreams of being a psychologist will not be bounded by any sort of means.
I will be able to break through any prejudice and bigotry of holding back that would otherwise
be impossible if I opt to get a degree here in my country.
Moreover, Canada has a dramatic landscape of magnificent and unprecedented beauty a nature-
lover it would be a felony to hold back my urge to admire its beauty.

2. What is your overall educational goal?

My first and foremost goal is to complete my under-graduation from University of Manitoba
with a pristine sense of knowledge. After graduation I want to come back to my motherland and
join a reputed educational institution as a lecturer which corresponds with my dignity. I want to
escalate my gained knowledge among the students of my motherland, I want myself to work as
a catalyst in the process of building my homeland for the modern era, where my country lags
behind the most. As Bangladesh is still a developing country, both economical and educational
constraints make it almost impossible to think of something out of the box and act as an outlier
from the stereotypes. I want the mass people of my country to get familiar with various fields of
psychology and endeavor benefits out of it.

3. Why are you not pursuing a similar program in your

country of residence?
As I have completed my 12 years of education in this country, unfortunately, it has left me
deeply skeptical about the quality of education here. I made some discrete observations by
speaking to seniors who are currently studying in various universities. I would decorate my
analysis as careful and even painstaking but never pedantic, but the conflation was nothing but a
figure of downheartedness. The teaching quality here wasn’t really able to live up to my
expectations. Our courses here are firmly emphasized on theories rather than practical
knowledge which comes to as obvious reasoning due to lack of experienced teachers. And I see
this as the most significant reason as to why my persuasion of Bachelor of Arts degree here in
Bangladesh is almost impossible to think of.

Another influential factor to why I am pursuing my degree outside the country is that the
availability of the Psychology program in the universities here. It is subject that most of the
private or sometimes, even public universities do not want to teach, as it is considered inferior
to other programs. While this absurd rationale but be due to the prospects here in this country, it
is still unacceptable to me. Furthermore, the universities that do offer a degree in Psychology,
the tests they take for the intake of students is way below standard, which requires a lot of
memorization. It makes difficult for students like me to enroll in these universities, who are
unwilling to memorize irrelevant things and work for that day and night just to enroll in an
university.

4. How will this program enhance your employment

opportunities in your country of residence?
Regardless of prolonged political instability, Bangladesh’s economy has grown by
approximately 6 percent for two decades. After all the political turmoil, structural constraints
and global volatility, the Bangladeshi economy is maintaining macroeconomic stability and
keeping the momentum running. As per many international personnel, they label Bangladesh as
an emerging “Asian Tiger” as this nation had a record economical growth of 7.28 percent in the
last fiscal year despite that year being characterized as one of the toughest because of a fall in
rice production and industrial growth. Bangladesh also has the potential to be among the fastest
growing economies in coming years which will ensure a 28th place among the world’s most
powerful economies by 2030. In fact it was categorized in the midst of top 10 fastest growing
economies in the world in 2016 as per the report published by International Monetary Fund
(IMF). And with the ongoing economical momentum it would overtake countries like Australia,
Netherlands, Spain, Malaysia by the year 2050.
It is for a fact that the liquidity of economy in Bangladesh is on the rise, which means, people
are spending on products and services like they never used to before. I strongly believe, that, by
the time I come back to my country, the demand of psychologists will rise as people will be
more aware of themselves. I believe more and more psychologists will be in touch with people,
to offer them knowledge and assistance. This will give rise to a new market, which will result in
new jobs for psychologists.

5. What ties do you have to your country of residence?

The ties I have to my country of residence are my parents whom I need to take care of and the
property we possess as a family. Being the youngest son of the family, I have always been the
center of attraction and love. And I feel like it is my first and foremost virtuous duty to take care
of my parents at their old age to repay the love that I have received over the past years. We are a
family of four and apart from me and my brother we do not have any other siblings to take care
of our parents and as well as the immovable properties my father owns. Besides, my entire
family resides here in Bangladesh, I have no other relatives living in Canada. Therefore, I do
not have any further intentions on settling abroad. I just want to complete my under-graduation
degree as soon as possible and come back to my parents. Moreover, as my country is
undergoing major development revolution I feel like it is my moral and legal responsibility as a
Bangladeshi to contribute towards my country’s educational development. Thus I see a
propitious future here in my country of residence.

I therefore hope that, you will acknowledge my uttermost interest and will give me chance to
study in your distinguished country.
