NAME 324: Resistance and Propulsion of Ships Sessional Assignment# B4: Design of Screw Propeller using Circulation Theory

The design is required for a 4-bladed single screw propeller developing 110300 Kg thrust force in sea water. The propeller is to give a service speed of V S = 16.73 knots with an engine having 98.6 rpm. Other necessary particulars are given below:

Propeller dia: 6880mm, Propeller hub dia =1376mm, Blade Area Ratio (BAR)=0.65, Distance of the centre of the propeller shaft from the surface of water =7570mm, Density, ρ SW =104.5kg-sec 2 /m 4 , Specific gravity, γ SW =1025kg/m 3
