short story was written at 5:00 AM and was completed at 10:57 AM on October 10, 2010. Have fun reading! Lindsay kissed Chad on the right cheek. Her eyes had a moist as if she had just wiped away her tears. A concern look on her face expressed her worries for Chad. Chad looked excited, but he too felt it would be so unfair for Lindsay. He would miss her very much. Nonetheless, he had to do this. It had been his dream since he was seven. Since a young boy, Chad looked up the sky and imagined that there were green people who traveled in little spaceships back and forth among the stars. Now at the age of twenty-seven, Chad had the opportunity, and he would not pass it even for Lindsay's sake. If anything would happen, he would not forgive himself as Lindsay had so much love for him. He would be a sinner in Lindsay's eyes for he would break the promise on that one hot, humid, but steamy lovemaking night that they had three years ago in the condo right on the Adrian beach. That night inside the condo on the Adrian beach, Chad was ecstatic as he had not met Lindsay for more than three years. That night, the memories flooded back which overwhelmed him. He remembered Lindsay had dated him when he was just a sophomore at Baiyu Creek high school. Lindsay at the time was a very famous cheerleader for the basketball team, but she was also a senior who had only few more months of school left before she would graduate. At the time, Chad was indeed a lucky nerd. He bumped into Lindsay in one of the hallways when she came out from her locker-room. His chemistry book and world history book and his notebook scattered randomly on the floor, and his eyeglasses dropped onto the floor, unbroken but made a peculiar sound which helped discerned it from the loud noises made by the dropping of the books. Lindsay felt a pain on her right arm as Chad's books had somewhat scraped her, but she stood up and gathered herself. Instead of scolding Chad, she came over and pulled him off the floor. He could see her really well without the eyeglasses – he had a Myopia problem (nearsightedness). Lindsay thought Chad could not see her well as she saw him stared into her face as if he was trying to focus so he could made out who was this girl that stood in front of him. Then he uttered those words, you-you-you're amazing-no-I mean you're beautiful, and sighed as if he had not a clue what he just uttered. She was captivated at his innocent which she saw in his beautiful eyes. He apologized as nerdy as he could be and fumbled himself on the floor as he gathered his books together. She picked up his eyeglasses, waited for him to pick himself off the floor with his books in hands, she placed his eyeglasses onto and over the bridge of his nose – the eyeglasses was slightly loose and lazily slid a tad downward. “You are so nerdy, but this is a secret between me and you, a cheerleader like me not suppose to like a nerd like you, I think I like you very much, can we hang out after school?” she said. Chad stood motionless, dumbfounded by her question – to be exact – it was an offer that could not be refused. “I don't know, I have to study for the big test tomorrow, for my chemistry class. I-I-I,” sighed Chad, “I don't know how to hang out with a girl, I-I,” he sighed again, “it would be, I mean you would be a first girl that I hang out with right after school. I may embarrass you and myself,” Chad sounded defeated.
“It's cool, I guess even a hot cheerleader like me cannot ask you for a date. Alright, I guess I see you around then, you jerk – no I was just kidding,” Lindsay laughed heartily as she saw his eyebrows squeezed together and a shock on his face. “Alright, I wait for you outside, at the front door, when the school is over, don't ditch me,” Lindsay's index finger pointed at his chest which penetrated his colorful striped, thin, short sleeve shirt made of the mixture of polyester and cotton. He felt her touch and nodded as if he agreed – the eyeglasses slipped a little more, she adjusted for him and smiled beautifully. Chad hurriedly took off. Inside the English class, he sat and could not digest any word from his teacher. His thoughts wandered back to the hallway where he met Lindsay. She didn't even tell him her name, but he could not forget the words she spoke, her scent, and the way she laughed and joked with him. Before he knew it, the English class had ended. Suddenly, he didn't care much about the homework that his English teacher dished out at her students. He stuffed his black backpack as quickly as he could, grabbed the extra books that he had to carry as his backpack had little room left for extra. Usually, it should be the time that he prepared to take a bus ride home, but today he had something else to look forward to. He got outside of the classroom and walked as fast as he could in the hallway, not running to avoid unnecessary attractions which he often had clumsily done so for many times before. At the same time, images of doubts formed within his mind. He feared that she had played a joke on him. He asked himself why such a famous, hot cheerleader as her wanted to have a date with him right after school. Dozen of doubtful scenarios crept into his mind, but he quickly disregarded them. He told himself he wanted to see her badly. The brightness outside greeted Chad, and there she stood in a tight black pant and a black shirt which was sleeveless. Other students walked right passed him, and some walked right between him and Lindsay. Lindsay grabbed motionless Chad's hand and pulled him down the steps as she walked backward. They got away from the loud front door. “You know I could drive right? I'm eighteen! My car parked in the back of the school. Let go get my car,” she said. Chad silently nodded. He followed her to the car. She got inside the car and popped the trunk for him, he heard the trunk popped open, stopped himself from opening the passenger door, at the car trunk, he carefully placed his backpack and his books inside, scratching his head a little, unsure about what would happen next, and he got himself seated in the passenger side of the car. Lindsay pushed the ignition button, the engine barely roared, and off they sped away from their high school inside a brand new hybrid Lexus. “So, what is your name?” she asked. “It's Chad! Your?” he asked. “Call me Lindsay,” she smiled and said, “I can't believe what you said earlier, so this is your first date ever with a girl?” “I have never tried to ask a girl out. It's a scary thing for me,” Chad embarrassed. “It feels a little strange, but sweet I think—you know, for being your first girl and all that,” she said. “So, we on a real date?” he asked and felt embarrassed even more.
“Yes Chad, we on a date, where you want to go?” she asked. “Anywhere, I guess,” he said. “How about a movie? There is this brand new movie that I heard about, and I heard people said it's very funny. Want to check it out?” she asked. “Sure, I guess,” he said. “Alright then, let go check it out,” she sped off some more. It was a slow first date as they went to watch a movie together, and ate an expensive dinner in a local steakhouse. It turned out she was a rich girl. For Chad, he had to content with his allowance. His parents gave him little money, just enough for school. Chad's parents weren't poor either as they were doctors, but he was poor. His parent did not spoil him. He turned sixteen three months ago, and he asked his mother would they give him his first car if he turned eighteen. The answer was he had to earn it. At the end of the date, Lindsay took Chad back home. At the front door, Lindsay kissed Chad on one of his cheeks. He looked perplexed and wondered would there be a second – a second date and a second kiss. She said she had fun, and she loved to do it again. Without asking, she fumbled a motionless Chad's pant pocket for his cell phone. She entered her number on his cell phone and pressed the call button. Her phone rang, but she pressed the end button. She placed the phone onto the books that he had carried all along. “Call me later,” she said. He stood at the front door watched her got inside her car and watched her car sped off into the night. Chad's parents were busied folks. They worked days and nights inside a local hospital, inside the ER. Chad tucked himself into bed at night, could not put himself to sleep as his thoughts raced about. He saw Lindsay over and over again inside his head. He remembered every word she spoke to him. He could see her smile. He held his cell phone in front of him, wondered her last words were real. He stared at the cell phone and saw it was 11:45 PM. He doubted himself that he had understand what she meant by saying call me later. Did she mean he could call her after midnight? She could be asleep for all he would guess. Did she mean he could call her on another day? The three words Call me later had many meanings for him, but which was her real intention? He stared at his cell phone again and the digital clock on the cell phone displayed as 12:10 AM. He held his breath and press the call button. “Hi Chad. I knew you would call,” she said. “Hi, it was fun, thanks for everything,” he said. “Me too, we can do it again next time,” she said. “OK,” he said. “Maybe we can do something else next time, you know something a little different,” she said. Thoughts raced through his mind. What she meant by saying Something different next time?
“Ya, we can do something different,” he said without knowing what would be something different. “Let me see, why don't we hang out on the weekend. I'll drive you to visit my grandmother on the weekend,” she said. “Sure, but would she welcome me?” he asked. “Oh, she is a lovely old lady. She is eighty-five you know! But she is still very active and making a lot of jokes. I think she would love to see you,” she said. Chad felt as if he had already knew Lindsay even though he just had met her today. It felt odd when she asked him to see her grandmother even though they met only for a day. He would not care at all, but he felt odd. He loved to comply to whatever suggestion she had made. “OK, I love to,” he said. “Great, how about this Saturday?” she asked. “OK,” he said. “I see you at school tomorrow,” she said. He heard her kissing him over the phone and he was ecstatic. He could not kiss her back as he felt embarrassed. “Have a good night Lindsay, thanks for everything again,” he said. She laughed as he thanked her. He told himself not to say the words thank you too much, but he did it involuntarily. Couple months later, Lindsay graduated from high school. They had talked to each other about what would they do after she graduated. She told him she wanted to take classes for a business major. She had formulated what she should do as a college student. He asked her would she rather date a college guy? Her answer was one word, never. She said she rather had him than any college hunk. Chad was the envy of the so called cool kids in the high school as they knew he had dated Lindsay. They envied him to the point that they told Chad she would rather date a college hunk when she graduated. He felt insecure and asked Lindsay such a question, but she reassured him not in a million years. After the graduation, Chad and Lindsay carried on their normal relationship. Two years later, one afternoon, Lindsay called Chad up. It was in the summer, and Chad had just graduated. Lindsay told Chad that she wanted to meet up with him, but she sounded very sad over the phone. He told her that they could meet at a local coffee shop. It was there, at the local coffee shop, on that day that he knew their relationship would end even though she said nothing of that sort. She told him that she wanted to change her major, but she had to go to another state for it to happen. He supported her decision. Deep inside his heart, he knew she wanted something more, and he wasn't her main interest anymore. Otherwise, she would ask instead of telling him that she wanted to move far away from him. He could not say no or told her not to go. He was not the type of person who stopped someone from carrying out one's dream. He told her she had to do
what her heart felt right. He remembered he took her to the airport that day. It was a rainy day. Lindsay had an umbrella and he had one, too. They stood at the front door of the airport. He hugged her deeply. “I would miss having sex with you,” he joked. She smiled and kissed him deeply. She thanked him for understanding her. She was about to go, but then she turned around and kissed him again. They hugged each other again, and then she left him. He stood there watched her back as she disappeared right behind the automatic door. Long distant love was not easy. Slowly, they stopped calling each other. She moved on to do what she did. He moved on with his college career. The next three years, he studied hard and had not dated anyone. His college male friends had always introduced him to their female friends. For some strange reasons, Chad was not into them. At the age of twenty-one, Chad decided he needed a break. He took one semester off from his university. He went with his male friends to Adrian beach during his break from college. His parents gave him a much bigger allowance of which he was much appreciated them for the money. He spent not lavishly, but not wisely either. A college student in a top university with a big allowance without working was many other college students' dream, and Chad understood all of that as he felt blessed inside. His male friends and him rented a condo on the Adrian beach. It was a beautiful sight. From a condo, he could see the endless ocean. The ocean had certain calmness as Chad envisioned, but he knew very well that the ocean was a beast that could drown any sea daredevil. As the evening came down, he partied hard with his college male friends at a club nearby the beach. He drank only a beer, but he felt his head was little lightheaded. Then as if fate had tied Lindsay and Chad together even though Adrien beach was completely in another state – not a state where Lindsay would appear in as she was far away and Chad would rarely venture to as he buried himself in books. They had bumped into each other, but this time it was Lindsay that bumped her back into him as she danced with her female friends. Lightheaded Chad staggered forward for couple seconds. He turned around to see who had pushed him forward, and heard she said I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it. Their eyes met, but even with the darkness blanketed the club and the frequently glares of the dancing lights in different colors that got swirled around the club from the the disco balls which hung above them, he could figure out it was her right away. She stared back in disbelief. The music was loud and they could not hear each other words. They excused themselves from their friends and got outside the club. The night was beautiful as the stars above twinkled brightly, and the sounds of the waves hitting the shore enhanced the night. The wind blew a little hard but Chad felt it was a warm breeze. His lightheadedness went away in an instant as he realized it was Lindsay. “What are you doing here? I can't believe I met you here. Oh my god, I haven't see you for a long time. You look great,” Chad said. Lindsay smiled beautifully, and she used her right hand to push her hair back as if she wanted to show her face under the yellow glow radiated by the lamppost in the night. She looked beautiful as ever, and Chad felt she was prettier. She was more mature and prettier. “I could not believe I bumped into you too, so how are you?” she asked.
“I'm good,” he said. “So, aren't you supposed to be in college still?” she asked. “Ya talking about that, I was exhausted as I studied too hard. I want to breathe a little easier, you know for a short while, to relax and then do battles again,” he laughed as he heard himself said the word battle. “Battle like a samurai?” she asked as she laughed and joked. “No, battle with equations. X this Y that, inverse this and that,” he laughed. “Sound boring,” she said. “Nah, I like it, but it was exhausted for me to be with books all the time, and so I'm taking this semester off,” he said. “Good decision, this is why we meet,” she said and laughed. “Ya, it is a damn good decision,” he said and laughed. “Are you dating anyone?” he asked. “Ya, with those girlfriends inside,” she laughed. “Me too, with those boyfriends inside,” and he laughed even harder. “Seriously? Nope, I couldn't find another guy like you,” she said. His heart melt all over again for her. Her words had ways that cut into him. Suddenly, he wished she would be his all over again. “Why did we stopped talking?” he asked. “I don't know, I was busied, and then I put off from calling you, and then I haven't heard from you, and then you know the rest,” she said. They talked all night long. The club's DJs played not another sound, the people inside the club poured out signified that the night had ended, and yet they stood and stared at each other deeply. The people walked behind and between them as they headed out toward the parking lot. It was crowded as the folks inside poured out. Some people got into their cars and drove off, some people walked toward the condos that were within a walking distance from the club. Then their friends came out and saw the two of them stood under the yellow glow of the lamppost. Lindsay told her girlfriends that they could go on without her. It turned out her condo wasn't too far from his. Her friends told her they would see her later at their condo. He told his boyfriends the same thing. Before they knew it, they kissed each other intensely. Their friends turned around and saw what happened. None of their friends could understand, but they did not bother the two as they disappeared
in the night. They walked together along the beach for a while. Later, Chad took Lindsay inside his condo's bedroom and they had a heated sex that they had missed for so long. She felt his entering her and she felt his familiar scent. The feeling was overpowering her. Chad felt it was heaven. They kissed each other as if they had never kissed each other. Yet, the feeling was very familiar that they had missed so much. He kissed her eyebrows, nose, neck, and downward. Every time he moved back up to her lips, she would reply his involuntarily as if she was programmed to do so. They did not sleep throughout the night even though the sex was over before the early dawn had came. They cuddled and stared outside their bedroom, beyond the large double glass door that allowed them peered at the waves from the beach. It was hard for both of them as Chad had to catch his flight. This time, it was Lindsay stood watching Chad's back disappeared behind the airport's automatic door. It was obvious, they could not be without each other. Chad called Lindsay up right after he got back home. He told her that he was safely home. She told him she wanted to see him again. They began a long distant relationship again. Right after Chad finished his four years at his university, he decided to move closer to where she lived. He moved to her state and studied at a local university for his master degree. She graduated with a law degree at the same time he got his master in physics. Only a month after he had proposed to Lindsay, he got a called from his professor. His professor knew Chad was an adventure type. It was not so when Chad was in high school. It could be that Lindsay had changed him over the time. Chad's professor told that if he wanted to join a space program, he could get in with the professor's recommendation. At the university, Chad visited his professor on the matter of the space program. The professor greeted him with enthusiasm as they had only spoke briefly about the space program last evening, over the phone. “Professor David, what type of space program are we talking about?” Chad asked. “It's rather obscured to me too Chad, but I think it's something big,” professor answered. “How do you know it's big?” Chad asked. “It could be the biggest program that they have ever assembled, I talked to an old colleague over the phone and she mentioned to me over the phone that she had never seen such a size of a space program before. She was rather mystical about the nature of the program, but she asked me if I know any good candidate who wants to join a space program, and I told her that I think I know just the person,” professor looked at Chad and winked. “Oh, professor, I don't know, I'm going to marry Lindsay soon, and I don't think she would approve my involvement with such intensive program. It will make her sad to know that I could work long hours and would not have time for her. I think about working part time, juggling with a PhD program, and on the side I will spend an adequate time with Lindsay although she may have to spend less time with me, I think. She is working for a law firm right now, but she could get promote to a more prominent
position in the firm where she would take on huge cases, and that would force both of us to spend less time with each other. Until she gets the promotion, I would hate to see me having to spend little time with Lindsay,” Chad said. “This program is not likely to be available twice. It's huge space program. Even my colleague who is working for the industry for twenty two years long said she has never ever seen such a bold program before, ever. By the way, the program was started way back before now, but my colleague has now only got into the loop of everything. Ok, I think if you don't take this opportunity now, someone else would have it and you don't. Chad, I know what you have to deal with since you're going to get marry soon, but think about this. What if you take on this space program and make history, would Lindsay be proud of you? Sleep on it Chad, and let me know if you want in as soon as you can, by tomorrow” professor persuaded. “Thanks professor, I'll sleep on it, and I'll let you know what I want soon,” Chad replied. At night, Chad could not sleep. Eventually, he broke the news for Lindsay. She felt his urge but wasn't sure what she wanted. She held her silence for a long time, and then she spoke with a softest voice ever. “Chad, I want you to do this, I think it would be a big regret in your life if you don't do it, and I'll regret for the rest of my life to know that I stop you from living your dream,” she said. “I don't know, I hate to see you less,” he said. “Me too darling, but I have you for a lifetime, but the space program won't wait for you,” she said. “So, you don't mind I delay my promise?” he asked. “No, not at all, I wish we don't have to delay, but I think it's definitely better for you to finish the space program first before we get marry. In that way we have double the blessings,” she said. It was Lindsay's acceptance that Chad decided to take on the space program. He returned to the school the next day and told his professor that he wanted in. The professor said that he would be paid handsomely. He told Chad that this space program wasn't just any space program, it could make history. Two years later, the space program had turned Chad into a well trained astronaut. A year after he entered the space program, it turned out Lindsay got promoted within her firm and she took on big cases. He felt relieved somewhat as he knew it was not him alone that was busied. For two years long, Lindsay spared as much time as she could at the space center where Chad trained as an astronaut as a way they could spend time together. It wasn't much time for both of them to spend together as a lover, but they felt closer nonetheless. Two years had passed, Chad stood at the opened door of the space center. From here he would get onto a van with the space center's logo plastered across the sides, and the van would take him and his teammates to the ultra-futuristic space rocket. He could feel the lingering of her warmth from the intense hug of which she gave to him a moment ago before he passed through the hallway where only the astronauts could enter.
Deep inside, he wished his mission would be a smooth one. He knew that it would be a historic mission, but a very risky one indeed. Anything could go wrong, but he was told that it took only one mistake or one failed component to have his mission derailed. He was told that the space rocket was years ahead of its time, but it was safe than any rocket that the previous astronauts had been on. He felt assured that everything had planned out right. He trusted everyone who spent tireless hours in the past two years to make this space program happened. Chad knew that his teammates and him had boundless appreciation for the efforts that the engineers and the researchers and the trainers and the technicians had spent. They got into the van. The van sped away, but Chad stared at the building that the van had sped away from. It was in that building that Lindsay had hugged him tightly. He feared mistakes could break his promise he had kept for her. The van halted and Chad felt it. His teammates and him got out from the van. They stared at a huge ultra-futuristic space rocket that utilized nuclear power to blast them away from earth. Using nuclear rocket had been proposed before, but it had never been done ever. On this mission, Chad and his teammates would be the first astronauts that flew into space inside a nuclear rocket, and it would be the first mission ever for men to land on Mars. The idea of using the nuclear rocket instead of the tradition was to shorten the amount of time for Chad and his teammates to travel to Mars. Nuclear rocket would spend less fuel and had plenty left even they had reached Mars. The mission was set to last for about a year long before Chad and his teammates could make it back to earth. With nuclear rocket blasted them away into space, it would only take around four months or so for Chad and his teammates to reach Mars. If everything went as planned, Chad and his teammates would spend four lonely months exploring the red planet, and the last four months would be for them to fly back to earth. Chad hoped he could see Lindsay within a year into the future without a hitch. He had promised to marry her when he got back from the space program in one piece. Chad remembered he joked with Lindsay and said that he would not marry her if he became an alien when he got back. Worse, he would not marry her if he came back in more than one piece. She was incredibly pissed at the time when he joked about his false pretenses. She told him that she would hear none of that. She asked him how could he gave false pretenses when she knew he could risk his life in this Mars mission. Often, she told him she wished she had not encouraged him to take on the Mars mission. She said she could not live one day after if anything would happen to him. “Buckle up gentlemen,” the captain of the team said as they squeezed themselves inside the capsule. The crew knew well that the rocket was a new design. It had a nuclear engine which utilized the gas core model. Although the gas core model was less efficient than the liquid core model, but it was better at controlling the monstrous temperatures that the nuclear process created. With a bad design engine, the monstrous temperatures that the nuclear engine produced internally could melt the reactor wall and would lead to a catastrophic event for the astronauts and the general population. The director of the space program had assured the team that the new design had been tested in controlled environments many times before it was developed into a launched engine of today. The countdown begun, and Chad held his breath. He felt the adrenaline rushed out within his blood and into his heart's muscles. He felt his heart pumped harder, but it was the rush he wanted so bad. It was exciting and at the same time he felt guilty for having all the fun while Lindsay awaited to see his launch from the topmost floor of the building that he had just left a short while ago. Chad kissed his cross which he had drawn on the back of his space-glove. He held onto the seat tightly and prepared to
receive the massive G-Force that he had been trained to withstand in the past up to this point. “Here we go gentlemen, don't scream like a girl, and let hope we make it back safely,” the captain said. “You can't say that captain, what if we have a female astronaut on this mission,” another astronaut joked. The count stopped and the rocket thrust upward which gave Chad a similar sensation that he felt many times before in the G-Force training pod. So far so good, Chad felt nothing out of the ordinary. The astronauts waited for the rocket to fly out of the earth's atmosphere before they began the long list of checks. The captain reported back to the command center that everything was normal. Chad felt his childhood dream had begun. The dream would be complete when everyone on board would return home safely. He wished he could know what thoughts raced through Lindsay at the moment. At the least, Chad knew he would make her proud for this mission was the first to Mars for mankind and not rovers. He could imagine the people on the ground cheered at him right now even though they could not see the pimple that had disappeared into a beautiful blue sky. Lindsay felt the salty taste on her lips when she realized her tears had crept inside her lips and got on her tongue. She had wept with joy at seeing Chad flown into space. It was a beautiful day. The sky could not be any nicer as the sun was still brightly shone in the afternoon. Lindsay thought she could see every ray of sunlight penetrated the cloud, and she imagined it in slow motion where every ray of sunlight suddenly turned into small particles – similar to a tennis ball, but a billion times smaller, she thinks. Never she had imagined that Chad was not returning home. The space mission had lasted longer than it was supposed to be. It was supposed to be a year long mission, but since then ten years had passed. Lindsay remembered when the space center notified her Chad's demise, she tried hard but her tears endlessly seeped out from her eyes as she had cried in silence. Chad was her sweetheart. Her only sweetheart that she was truly loved. She had never gotten herself over Chad even though now she had gotten married to a much older man who worked with her in the law firm. In fact, she married to her boss. “Mom, look at this, I finish the puzzle,” Allen said. Lindsay stood on the top floor of her law firm as she stared outside and up into the clouds. She was imagined Chad stared back at her through those clouds, but her five years old son jerked her back into the reality. “Wow, Allen, did you know mommy could not finish this puzzle as fast as you?” she gave Allen a huge smile and hugged him tightly as a way a mommy congratulated a son who had completed an amazing and complicated puzzle. “Go watch TV for a bit Allen, let mommy does something real quick, and I'll take you out of here for a Sundae,” she said. At her desk which had piled of documents neatly stacked on one side, and a small mess of scattered documents laid at the center. She pulled out a center drawer from her desk, a small diary she kept laid humbly within, and she took it out. She grabbed a pen which laid on the messy pile of documents and
wrote inside her diary the few words that she had been waited since the early dawn. The clock ticked at 3:00 PM, and she started to write: Dear Chad, I miss you so much. 3:00 PM is when you left this earth, and today is your birthday. Don't worry, I haven't forgot about you at all. See, I still remember your birthday. I wish Allen knows of you. I will tell him all about you, your heroic trip, and everything else when he grows a bit older. Although he's not your son, but I know you won't mind at all about such trivial thing. I think you would love him just as much as I do as a mom if you have had a chance to know him. He's very smart. He has completed an amazing puzzle that I find it's hard to believe a five years old could do such a thing. I'm going to have a Sundae later with Allen, and with you in spirit. Chad, happy birthday to you. I hope you have fun in Mars! Always loving you Chad, your Lindsay out! Just for now... Lindsay closed the diary and tucked it back inside her desk's drawer. She walked Allen out of her office and into the sun. They both went into the crowded ice cream shop for a Sundae. While eating a Sundae with her kid, she suddenly acknowledged that her diary had only few pages left for her to scribble on. She felt it was time for her to stop the insanity. “Allen, your mom is going to do something big today,” she said. “Yes, but what?” Allen asked. “Mommy can't tell you,” she smiled. “I want to know mom,” he said. “OK, want to burn a book with me?” she asked. “Yes, it sounds fun,” he said. “Don't do this without mommy ever, OK? It's only with mommy, and this time only. Playing with fire is bad, OK Allen?” she said. “Yes, with mommy only,” he said. She kissed her son on the forehead. Allen complained about how sticky his forehead was. She laughed and wiped away some ice cream on his forehead as she had neglected about the ice cream which had stuck on her lips. Mommy is sorry, more kiss? And the answer was no!
