Configure Outlook 2003/2007/2010 to use RPC over HTTP
About RPC over HTTP You c an configure Mic rosoft Offic e Outlook® 2003/2007/2010 to c onnect to the Sc hool of Medic ine Microsoft Exchange Server over the Internet without the need to use virtual private network (VPN) c onnections. This feature - c onnec ting to an Exc hange acc ount by using Remote Proc edure Call (RPC) over HTTP - allows Outlook users to access their Exchange Server accounts from the Internet when they are traveling or are working outside their organization's firewall. There are several requirements for configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003/2007/2010 to use RPC over HTTP. These include: Requirements: The c lient must be running Outlook 2003 on a Microsoft Windows XP Servic e Pac k 2 (SP) or later-based c omputer. Install the SoM Secure Ac cess Certific ate from the OWA Website: http://owa.med.wayne.edu/ Your School of Medic ine username and password

In order for RPC over HTTP to work, you will need to install the SoM Sec ure Acc ess Certificate on your computer. Installing the c ertificate will allow the entire c ertificate authority c hain to be trusted.

Install the SoM Secure Access Certificate:

1. Open Internet Explorer 2. Go to the OWA web site: http://owa.med.wayne.edu 3. On the left side, click the link for "SoM Secure Access Certificate" 4. In the file download box, clic k "Open" 5.
