Product Data Bulletin Raleigh, NC, U.S.A.
PURPOSE This bulletin is intended for use by Square D customers, distributors, and sales force
personnel as an aid in understanding the similarities and differences between Square
D Class 9007 Type BD and Telemecanique XCK-J limit switches.
The 9007 BD will be replaced by the Telemecanique XCK-J limit switch line. This
Product Data Bulletin provides a comparison of the two product lines, first from a re-
view by product listing and then from a technical standpoint.
HISTORY The Class 9007 Type BD was first introduced to the US Market in 1985 as a mechanical
turret head limit switch to meet IEC requirements. While less expensive than the 9007
Type C, it was available only with PG 13.5 conduit entry. 1/2" NPT was later made avail-
able, but only by adding Form M19 to the type number. The Telemecanique XCK-J limit
switch offered in the US has 1/2" NPT conduit entry as standard, but PG 13.5 is available
by adding the suffix “PG” to the type number.
Both the BD and XCK-J devices are UL Listed and CSA Approved.
The XCK-J features a new contact block that meets the new IEC standard (IEC 947-
5-1). In addition to an improved positive opening mechanism, it features electrically
separate contacts for NO and NC. The contacts were also designed to be used on low
energy circuits such as 24 V, 5 mA.
The XCK-J and 9007 BD are fully equivalent from a form, fit and function stand-
point. With very few exceptions, the XCK-J can be substituted for the 9007 BD de-
vice while offering additional features and benefits.
REFERENCE The Square D and Telemecanique product lines are similar in dimensions and op-
MATERIAL AND erating characteristics, but there are some differences which could have an effect
RECOMMENDATIONS on the final application. Refer to the tables listed below for recommendations.
When offering recommendations, choose the cross reference from Table 1; then re-
fer to Table 2 and 3 to identify any differences in characteristics and dimensions.
Note: There are no replacement parts available for the Square D Type BD limit
switch. The complete switch would need to be replaced. Complete switches are in-
terchangeable between the two.
TE lever arms will fit only TE switches and Square D lever arms will fit only
Square D switches. The lever arms for the Square D Type BD devices are the same
as those which fit the 9007 Type C limit switch and will remain stocked.
