Regarding to the relevant standard codes and guidance our company using will use references
as below:
• Standard Eurocode 1 – Action on Structure
• Standard Eurocode 2 – Design of Concrete Structures (BS EN 1992-1-1:2004)

The characteristic strength fck is 28 days cylinder strength. The grade of concrete appropriate
for use should be selected taking account of following factor:
• Adequate strength for the limit state requirement
• Durability
• The grade of Concrete is 25 N/mm2
• Unit weight of concrete is 25 kN/m3

• Design based on the appropriate characteristic strength or a lower value if necessary
to reduce deflection and control cracking.
• For high yield steel the strength is 500 N/mm2
• Reinforcement provided based on Table 1 and Table in Eurocode 2.
The selection of beam sizes is often dictated by deflection control criteria. Span to overall
depth (L/h) rations of 13 to 18 are generally found to be economical in the case of simply
supported and continuous beam. The recommendation ratio of width to overall depth (b/h) in
rectangular beam section estimated in range of 0.3 - 0.6.

Stairs are an essential part of every building since they lead from one floor to another and
connect different level. The dimension of stairs should be such as to give the maximum
comfort, which depend on the use of building. The riser shall not more than 180mm in public
building and the going shall not less than 255mm in public building. The staircase,
characteristic strength of concrete, fck is 25N/mm2 and the characteristic strength of the
reinforcement is 500kN/m2. The designation size for the riser is 170mm and the going is

A roof is part of a building envelope, both the covering on the uppermost part of a building or
shelter which provides protection from animals and weather, notably rain, but also heat, wind
and sunlight and the framing or structure which supports the covering.

Slabs are plate elements forming floors and roofs in buildings which normally carry
uniformly distributed loads. The selection of slab thickness from structural viewpoint is often
dictated by deflection control criteria. Beside of that, slab thickness also control by fire
resistance as state in EC2-1-2 (Table 5.8). The overall depths of slabs are often fixed in
relation to their spans. Since critical slab ly / lx < 2, slab thickness that used is 125mm based
on formula

The critical slab categorized as two way restrain slab due located near void. The slab of every
bathroom has a drop around 50mm.
Columns do not contribute to resistance of horizontal actions. Column sizes should not be
significantly different from those obtained using current practice. The design size of column
for this bungalow is 200mm x 500mm and 300mm x 300mm.

Water Tank
A water tank is storage reservoirs to store water. The structural stability of the tank, the type
and design of other equipment for operation, and the location of the tank must be considered
in all cases. Capacity, or the volume of water which a tank can hold, is one of the most
important design factors. Water tank of this bungalow placed on roof top near the bathroom.
In esteem, we provide uniform load around beam in bathroom as a load from water tank then
transferred to the beam.

UTHM Consultant using Esteem 7 as primary software to complete this project. Esteem 7
Integrated Total Solution is now a completely brand new application with numerous
fascinated breakthroughs and feature improvements. Bundled with amazing technological
innovations, Esteem 7 comes with significant increase in performance, productivity and user-
friendliness. Esteem 7 is a total integrated solution computer program that offers the complete
package for modelling, design and analysis, detailing and costing solution in reinforced
concrete design. It is generate all the load, size of beam, slab, pile cap, column and also
taking off.

Design and shape the structure with the powerful, flexible features in AutoCAD design and
documentation software, one of the world’s leading 2D and 3D CAD tools. UTHM
Consultant using AutoCAD 2010 to design arrangement and setting of beam, column, slab
and architecture drawing.

Based on esteem outcomes, the design status all slabs which is consist ground slab, and level
1 slab are pass. Ground floor has provided with 9 slabs and critical slab located at FS6:1 has
area of steel bar required (As Req) 293mm2 and 163mm2 for both direction parallel and
perpendicular with reinforcement 22T10-250(BB) and 14T10-250(BT). Meanwhile others
slab of ground floor provided reinforcement in range 14T10-250(BT) – 4T10-250(BT).
Meanwhile, first floor has provided with 10 slabs with FS3:1 slab is critical slab and provided
with steel bar required (As Req) 393mm2 and 188mm2 for both direction parallel and
perpendicular with reinforcement 26T10-150(BB) and 14T10-250(BT).

Based on esteem outcomes, the design status of ground beam, first floor beam and second
floor beam are pass. The size of beam is 200 x 500 mm but various length and most the beam
reinforcement provided with 2T12. A few beams design has a provided with warning an
unstable or cantilever beam and need check by visual inspection of the key plan and use own
good engineering judgment.

Based on esteem outcomes, design status of column design are pass. Number of column on
ground floor consist 19 columns, first floor comprised 16 columns and second floor consist
15 columns. The column design in rectangular shape with the size is suitable to support and
transfer load safely to the ground. Critical column of ground floor located at column C9 (4,
B) 4T20 with 1257 mm2(As Prov). Meanwhile, critical column of first floor located at C25
(3,B) provided 8T16 with 1608 mm2 (As Prov). Critical column of second floor located at C5
(2,C) provided 4T32 with 3217 mm2 (As Prov).
