Fecha de entrega: 7 de Noviembre del 2018

Note: Remember that the results must to be dedutec whit base to the first thermodynamic's law, the mass's conservation
and the second thermodynamic’s law.

1. Air as an ideal gas flows through the compressor and heat exchanger shown in Fig. P6.90. A separate liquid water stream
also flows through the heat exchanger. The data given are for operation at steady state. You should consider non-constant
specific heats. Determine

1.1 The change in the specific entropy of the compressor. R/ 0,03915 KJ/kg°K
1.2 Entropy rate generated of the compressor. R/ 0,0263 KW/°K
1.3 Power of the compressor. R/ 52,4 KW
1.4 Exergy rate destruction or irriversibilities rate of the compressor. R/ 7,89 KW
1.5 Mínime power available in the compressor. R/ 44,51 KW
1.6 Water's mass flow in the heat exchanger. R/ 0,403 kg/s
1.7 Entropy rate generated of the heat exchanger. R/ 0,0172 KW/°K
1.8 Exergy rate destruction or irriversibilities rate of the heat exchanger. R/ 5,12 KW

2. An adiabatic air compressor is to be powered by a direct-coupled adiabatic steam turbine that is also driving a generator.
Steam enters the turbine at 12.5 MPa and 500°C at a rate of 25 kg/s and exits at 10 kPa. Air enters the compressor at 98
kPa and 295 K at a rate of 10 kg/s and exits at 1 MPa. The turbine and compressor are adiabatic and internally
reversible. For the compressor you should consider non-constant specific heats. Determine:

2.1 Power of the compressor. R/ 2783,7 KW

2.2 Power of the turbine. R/ 32420 KW
2.3 Power net. R/ 29636,3 KW
3. A well-insulated turbine operating at steady state is sketched in Fig. P4.29. Steam enters at 3 MPa, 400°C, with a
volumetric flow rate of 85 m3/min. Some steam is extracted from the turbine at a pressure of 0.5 MPa and a temperature of
180°C. The rest expands to a pressure of 6 kPa and a quality of 90%. The total power developed by the turbine is 11,400
kW. Kinetic and potential energy effects can be neglected. Determine:

(a) the mass flow rate of the steam at each of the two exits, in kg/h. Answer: 11232 kg/h, 40068 kg/h,
(b) the diameter, in m, of the duct through which steam is extracted, if the velocity there is 20 m/s. Answer: 0.284 m
(c) Entropy rate generated of the turbine. R/ 7,09 KW/°K
(d) Exergy rate destruction or irriversibilities rate of the turbine if the environment's temperature is of 25 °C. R/ 2112,82 KW
(e) Maxime power available in the turbine. R/ 13512,82 KW
