Origin of the humanity
● Truth of Origin persuant to the doctrine of Tenrikyo was revealed by God the
Parent:

„In the beginning, the world was a muddy ocean. Tsukihi, God the Parent,
finding the chaos unbearably tasteless, though of creating human beings in
order to see the Joyous Life and thus share in that joy.“
(The doctrine of Tenrikyo, Chapter Three, The Truth of Origin)

● Fish and serpent: models for the human husband and wife

● Further animals taken from the loaches: orc; turtle; eel; flatfish; black snake;
globe-fish

Origin of the humanity

● Orc: male organ(seed) for bones and support (stability) – Tsukiyomi-no-Miloto

● Turtle: female organ (seedplot) for skin (joy) – Kunisazuchi-no-Mikoto

● God the Parent:Tsukisama (Moon) and Hisama (Sun)

● 900 099 999 seeds at the very beginning

● After given birth to all them: passed away and reborn

Evolutional changes
● All past away – exept a female monkey: conceived 5 male and 5 female
human beings

● While growing up: land and sea, heaven and earth, moon and sun
appeared and had been established

●Divine principles expressed by several „divine effections“ (in total: The


Ten Providences)

● Effectes shall represent the needs for the human body, such as breathing,
humidity and warmth

● Jiba as location of origin and conception

„This is the Residence where I began human beings. Because of this causality,
it is here that I descended.

This is the Residence where I began this world. Therein lives the original
Parent of human beings“.

Discerning this, Tsukihi descended from the desire to teach about all matters“.
(Ofudesaki IV:55 and VI: 55-56)

Meaning of the human body
● In the sense of Tenrikyo: body is a thing lent by God, a thing borrowed

„All human bodies are things lent by God. Do you not know the free and
unlimited workings of God“?
(Ofudesaki III: 126)

● Body comparable with clothes: death as „passing away for rebirth“

● The mind alone belongs to oneself

„So long as you remain unknowing that the body is a thing borrowed, you can
understand nothing at all“.
(Ofudesaki III: 137)

Meaning of the human body
● Body shall be used according to the providence of God – the Joyous
Life

● What is the Joyous Life?

● Function of the body is determined by the way of using our minds


● Mind alone belongs to us

● Use of mind will influence own fate

Misfortune and illness

● 8 dusts of mind: miserliness, covetousness, hatred, self-love, grudge-bearing,


anger, greed, arrogance

● Misuse of our minds leads to misfortune and illness

● Body represents reflection of our mind: if deeds are bad, misfortune will
occur

„If only the dusts are cleanly swept away, then I shall work marvellous
salvation.“
(Ofudesaki III: 98)

● Important to use the body according to the will of God

● Misfortune and illness as consequence of falseful use of the mind

„There is every kind of causation in this world. There is a good causation as


well as bad causation.“

● Life is determined by the way of handling our minds

● To be achieved by „Hinokishin“ for living the Joyous Life in the sense of God

● Definition of Hinokishin

● True sincerity turnes to entire mercy granted by God

„If your mind is true sincere, there will never be a failure in any salvation.“
(Ofudesaki XIII: 71)

● Mind of human beings comparable with muddy water

● Hinokishin and gratitude base for salvation

● Self-awareness as settling of our minds

● When mind is completly purified, then paradise will come: no misfortune and
illness any more
