Parameter Domain Name Domain Host Name Node Name Domain Port Number User Name for Domain Administrator Password for Domain Administrator Port Number Range for Services on Node Value

1.4 Create a system user account. Create a system user account to perform the installation and to run the Informatica Services service or daemon. On Windows, the system user must be a member of the Administrator group. Use Table 4 to record the system user account information:
Table 4. System User Account
Parameter User Name Password Value

1.5 Configure environment variables. Configure environment variables for temporary files, code pages, and the graphics display server. Use Table 5 to record environment variable values:
Table 5. Environment Variables
Parameter Installation TMP IATEMPDIR Code Page Environment Variables (UNIX) LANG LC_ALL Graphics Display Server Environment Variable (UNIX) DISPLAY Value

1.6 Create a keystore for HTTPS support. Create a keystore file to use a secure connection with HTTPS.

Parameter HTTPS Port Keystore Password Keystore File Location Value

For more information about the pre-installations tasks, see “Before You Install” in the PowerCenter Installation Guide.

Step 2. Install PowerCenter
2.1 Install PowerCenter. Run the installer to install PowerCenter. Use Table 7 and Table 8 to record the PowerCenter installation directory and Informatica Services configuration information:
Table 7. PowerCenter Installation Directory
Parameter Server Installation Directory Value

Table 8. Informatica Services Configuration (Windows)
Parameter Windows User Domain/ User Name User Password Value

You can also install PowerCenter documentation, PowerCenter and Metadata Manager command line utilities, and the Information Development Platform (IDP). For more information about installing PowerCenter, see the PowerCenter Installation Guide.

Step 3. Complete the Post-Installation Tasks
3.1 Verify prerequisites. Review the prerequisites and verify database requirements, code page compatibility, web browser, and third-party software prerequisites. 3.2 Create databases and user accounts. Create databases and user accounts for the PowerCenter repository, Data Analyzer repository, and Metadata Manager repository. The database users must have permissions to create and drop tables and indexes and to select, insert, update, and delete data from tables. Use Table 9, Table 10, and Table 11 to record the repository database information:
Table 9. Metadata Manager Repository Database
Parameter Database Type Database Name Value

Step 2. Install PowerCenter

Parameter Database Name Database Driver Database Host Name Database Port Number Database User ID Database Password Tablespace Name Value

Table 11. PowerCenter Repository Database
Parameter Repository Name Repository Code Page Database Type Database Connect String Database User ID Database Password Database Name Tablespace Name Value

3.3 Install and configure database client software. Install and configure database client software on the machines where you install PowerCenter Services. 3.4 Configure environment variables. Configure environment variables for PowerCenter Services, UNIX, Java components, and the libstdc++.so.5 library. Use Table 12 to record the environment variables values:

configure them manually in the Administration Console. For more information, see the PowerCenter Administrator Guide. 4.2 Configure the Metadata Manager Service. Configure the Metadata Manager Service and an optional Reporting Service. You can use the Configuration Assistant, or you can configure it manually in the Administration Console. For more information, see the PowerCenter Administrator Guide. 4.3 Manually configure the Reporting Services. Configure the Reporting Service in the Administration Console. You can create a Reporting Service for PowerCenter and Metadata Manager. For more information, see the PowerCenter Administrator Guide.

Step 5. Configure Data Profiling
5.1 Set up a Data Profiling warehouse. You can setup a Data Profiling warehouse for each PowerCenter repository in which you want to store data profiles. For more information, see “After You Configure” in the PowerCenter Configuration Guide.

Step 6. Configure Users
6.1 Change the administrator password. To ensure security, change the administrator password in the Administration Console. 6.2 Create user accounts. Create users in the Administration Console. A user with an account in the PowerCenter domain can perform tasks in the PowerCenter applications. Users can perform tasks in PowerCenter based on the privileges and permissions assigned to them. For more information, see the PowerCenter Administrator Guide.

Step 7. Configure Informatica Orchestration Server
If you have PowerCenter Real Time Edition, configure the repository and port number for Orchestration server. For more information, see the PowerCenter Orchestration Guide.

Step 8. Install and Configure the PowerCenter Client
7.1 Install the PowerCenter Client. Run the installer to install the PowerCenter Client. For more information, see “Client Installation” in the PowerCenter Installation Guide. Use Table 13 to record the PowerCenter Client installation directory:
Table 13. Client Installation Directory
Parameter Client Installation Directory Value

7.2 Install database client software. Install database client software on the machines where you install the PowerCenter Client. Some DataDirect 5.2 ODBC drivers installed with the PowerCenter Client do not require database client software on the PowerCenter Client machine. 7.3 Configure the web browser. Configure the web browser to access the Start Page in the PowerCenter Client. For more information, see “After You Install” in the PowerCenter Configuration Guide. 7.4 Install languages (Optional). If required, install additional languages on Windows for use with the PowerCenter Client. 7.5 Configure the PowerCenter Client machines. Create an ODBC connection on each PowerCenter Client machine that needs database access.
