LIVE THE “IMPOSSIBLE” LIFE!
In Mark 10:17-27; and Luke 18:18-27 we have a story about a certain
ruler who came to Jesus, calling Him “Good Master,” and asking him what he
must do to inherit eternal life. Luke says he came running and kneeling. Jesus
answered him with a question. Jesus said, “Why call thou me good? There is
none good but one, that is, God.” Jesus knew the man did not see him as God’s
Son; he only saw Him as a “good man.”

Before he could answer, Jesus gave Him the commandments that have to
do with relationships with mankind. These he had already done. He had a good
relationship with man, but he was still lacking! He had lived an honorable life in
the eyes of man, yet he knew that there was something missing. Mark tells us that
Jesus loved him! Next, Jesus gets down to the nitty-gritty! He tells him to sell
whatever he has and give it to the poor and his reward and treasure would be in
heaven. But that wasn’t all! Jesus told him to come and take up the cross and fol-
low Him. Jesus was telling him to “lose his life” and find eternal life in following
Him. We must crawl upon the cross, die to self and follow Him! The Scripture
says he was sad at that saying and he went away “grieved.” Why? Because he
had great possessions. There is nothing wrong with being rich. Abraham was
one of the richest men around. It’s wrong to think money can buy life!

wanted. Yet, he was needy in heart and spirit! All he had to do was to turn loose

of his life and to crawl upon the cross. No one will crawl upon the cross unless
he has faith to believe in the resurrection! If you do not believe that your life will
be quickened, you will never give it up. Christ is asking us to live His life while
He lives our lives. The way we live His life, through our flesh, determines how
He responsds to our lives.

MONTHLY REPORT
A new year is coming just after the celebration of the birth of Christ.
When Jesus came as the Son of man, all things became new. We are living
in the “Day of the Lord.” This is the time of acceptance. If a person has a
desire to be cleansed from their sins and be made acceptable to God, this is
the day to call upon the name of the Lord. Forgiveness and cleansing are
available to all. BUT one day the door will be closed, and no man knows
the hour in which the Lord Jesus Christ will return. Everything around us
shows signs of the end are here. If I were without forgiveness, I would cry
out to God in repentance as quickly as possible. Do we have loved ones
who are not ready for that day? What are we doing about that? Witness
as if it was you that was lost! Do unto others as you would have them do
unto you!
One of our supporters, Mrs. Pearl Larson, fell and has a severe
head concussion. She has a long way to recovery and would appreciate
your prayers. Her husband has a Bible study every Saturday morning with
a group of men. They all empty their pockets and once a month send it
to Tid Bits of Wisdom. We are their missionaries. Their offering is very
special. Your gift does not have to be large to make a difference! We had
one large offering this month that made a difference. We had to have wir-
ing replaced and the gift made the difference.
Thanksgiving morning Gloria had a light stroke while working in
the kitchen. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital while 24 people
came to our house for Thanksgiving. You can read about her in her article
on page four. We thank God for all the mercy He showed through this try-
ing time. Your prayers are needed and very much appreciated. She has
been my caretaker for the last 12 yrs. and now I am hers. Thanks for car-
ing.
We do not take a salary from Tid Bits of Wisdom. Anything you send
with Tid Bits of Wisdom’s name goes straight to Tid Bits of Wisdom. The paper
will be 12 years old this December and many who started with us have died or
become unable to give. Many have been faithful all these years. Pray and ask
God if He wants you to join us with a monthly support. We are grateful for our

In Reading Through Your Bible
In 1969 Bro. Lester Roloff challenged Jerry and me to read through our
Bibles in one year. He also challenged us to memorize chapters as a family. I had
started reading through my Bible many times and always quit about Leviticus.
He said, “You probably won’t do it! But if you do, it will change your life.” He
was so right. I had to prove to him I would do it, so Jerry and I started the first
year together and we have read through our Bibles every year since! Sometimes
we have read through two or three times a year, PLUS study time for Bible les-
sons. It saved our marriage, it saved our children, and it saved our lives from
daily destructions. I know my Bible well today, but I cannot start my day without
reading it again. When I open my Bible, the Holy Spirit comes alive in my heart
and speaks to me through the Word. That makes my day go so much better. It
tunes my spirit up with the heart of the Lord and His presence is felt all day.
Many days are hard to bear. We need God’s presence with us! We don’t know
what we will face today so we must not start without seeking His face. Every
Christian has His Holy Spirit available. Why wouldn’t we seek to allow Him to
lead us? Why run on empty when you can have a full tank????
If you do take the challenge, it is very important to have the right mind
set as you read. The people at Berea received the word with all readiness of mind.
Be ready to hear. Don’t start with a know-it-all-attitude. Start checking to see if
what you think you know, is what God’s Word says. I have been told many things
about the Scriptures. I go to God’s Word to see if the things I’ve heard are true.
If you did read through this year, we would love for you to send us your
name and how many times you have read through your Bible. We will print those
names in the next Tid Bits of Wisdom.

The life of faith is represented as receiving— an act which implies the very
opposite of anything like merit. It is simply the acceptance of a gift. As the
earth drinks in the rain, as the sea receives the streams, as night accepts
light from the stars, so we, giving nothing, partake freely of the grace of
God. The saints are not, by nature, wells, or streams; they are but cisterns
into which the living water flows; they are empty vessels into which God
pours His salvation. The idea of receiving implies a sense of realization,
making the matter a reality. One cannot very well receive a shadow; we
receive that which is substantial: so is it in the life of faith, Christ becomes
real to us. While we are without faith, Jesus is a mere name to us—a per-
son who lived a long while ago, so long ago that His life is only a history
to us now! By an act of faith Jesus becomes a real person in the conscious-
ness of our heart. But receiving also means grasping or getting possession
of. The thing which I receive becomes my own: I appropriate to myself
that which is given. When I receive Jesus, He becomes my Saviour, so
mine that neither life nor death shall be able to rob me of Him. All this is to
receive Christ—to take Him as God's free gift; to realize Him in my heart,
and to appropriate Him as mine.
Salvation may be described as the blind receiving sight, the deaf receiv-
ing hearing, the dead receiving life; but we have not only received these
blessings, we have received CHRIST JESUS Himself. It is true that He
gave us life from the dead. He gave us pardon of sin; He gave us imputed
righteousness. These are all precious things, but we are not content with
them; we have received Christ Himself. The Son of God has been poured
into us, and we have received Him, and appropriated Him. What a heartful
Jesus must be, for heaven itself cannot contain Him!

God’s’ mercy!
God promises in His word that if we will submit to His will for our lives,
He will turn everything that touches us to the good of our lives. (Romans 8:28) I
believe that with all my heart, therefore I cannot despair because of what has hap-
pened to me. Paul said he would not brag about his works, because that would
bring praise to himself. He did say he would “glory in his infirmities.” which
brings praise to God. If we survive our infirmities, it is all because of God’s
mercy to our lives.
Today my life is made up of counseling others. I must be able to think
and talk to do that. With a stroke I could have very likely not been able to com-
municate, but God’s mercy did not allow me to suffer any throat issues. I love to
teach God’s Word to women. For that I must have a voice. My pulpit has always
been my piano or organ. I can speak through the spirit of music. If my hand had
remained paralyzed, I could not play. After doing an MRI and a CAT SCAN they
concluded there was no damage from the stroke. God’s mercy! My upcoming
tests will reveal if I had pneumonia or cancer. Whatever God allows it to be He
has already prepared to meet my needs. Jerry has gone through terrible days of
gout attacks in the last two years and I have been his caretaker. Many days he
was not able to get out of the chair without help. I could not help him if I were
paralyzed. Today, he is my caretaker. He began to be able to walk just three days
before my stroke. God’s mercy and God’s timing made him be able to be what I
needed. God doesn’t promise us we will not have problems, but He does promise
us that He will turn it to good and that He will be with us through them.
Let me ask you a question. What if your life were threatening to drasti-
cally change today. Are you prepared to trust God with your life? Many years
ago, I lost my life for the cause of Christ. My life belongs to Him. I don’t know
about tomorrow; I only have strength for today and so do you.
What are you going through today that you did not ask for and you can-
not make go away? Has God given you a cup to drink that you have asked God
to take away? Jesus asked to have His cup removed too. But more than having
His cup removed, He desired to do the Will of God! We have every right to ask
to have our cup removed, if we are willing to drink it in order to fulfill the Lord’s
will for our life. Every day you and I are given a cup to drink. Sometimes it is
a bitter cup and sometimes it is full of blessings. We never know what will be in
our cup tomorrow. How can we drink these cups of sorrows and heartaches? We
need help! God knows we need help! He has made a way for us if we will do it,
His way.
