** filipinos were not given a chance to value their own culture

The colonization of the Philippines has a positive and negative effect on us. The indoctrinated of
the Spaniards help us become a part of God’s family. They also taught us how to read. They
introduced education and a new ways to farm. There were also negative effects on the country
because the Filipinos were not given a chance to value their own culture. The Filipinos became
abused and overworked that led to deaths of others. It made us forget some of our traditions
and instead their traditions have been carried out until now. Their language, customs and even
the bahay na bato still lives and is seen in our culture until today.
