Dear Parent/Carer,

Christmas Charity Drive

This week, we have launched our first charity initiative of the academic year: The Christmas
Charity drive. It aims to provide donations from Isleworth & Syon School to local, national and
global charities. To do this we will run a number of appeals, as follows:

FOODBANK DONATIONS FOR IVYBRIDGE, MONDAY 10 – WEDNESDAY 12 DECEMBER

KS3 (Years 7-9) pupils are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items and toiletries to be
sent to Ivybridge Link, a foodbank in our local community. Essential food items required by the
food bank include: sugar, instant mash, long life fruit juice, coffee, tinned fruit, long life UHT
/powdered milk, tinned vegetables e.g. peas/sweetcorn/carrots and tinned meats. Please ensure
that all goods donated are in date. The foodbanks have specified that they do not require pasta,
baked beans or soup as they have a surplus of these items. They have also requested additional
toiletries including: shower gel, shampoo, hand soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes.

‘INSPIRED GIFTS’ FOR UNICEF, MONDAY 17 – WEDNESDAY 19 DECEMBER

KS4 (Years 10-11) pupils are encouraged to make monetary donations that will deliver life-
changing supplies to children around the world through Unicef’s ‘Inspired Gifts’ campaign. This
will be organised in form time and they will select which gift(s) they would like to buy with the
money their form raises. You can find more information here.

CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY FOR SAVE THE CHILDREN, TUESDAY 18 DECEMBER

The whole school community are encouraged to participate in Save the Children’s national
Christmas Jumper Day. Staff and pupils can donate £1 to wear a Christmas jumper on Tuesday
18 December. All proceeds raised will go to Save the Children who provide essential food,
healthcare, education and protection to millions of children in poverty. Please note: school
uniform should be worn as normal on this day, with the exception of the Christmas jumper in the
place of the school jumper/blazer.

Both food and monetary donations made by pupils will be collected by their Form Tutors and
House Captains, during morning registration, on the days specified above.

We thank you for your support with the appeals and hope you agree that these are all very
worthwhile causes.

Yours faithfully,

Ms L Shukla Miss G Breach Miss E Durnien Miss J Clerc
